Key ResponsibilitiesUse AI and automation for high-leverage development work and help shape team AI practices and guardrailsDesign, develop, and debug embedded C software for low-level and platform-level componentsDrive performance optimization across RAM usage, CPU load, and compiler/build settingsImprove system robustness, fault handling, and stability through runtime behavior analysisDefine and track software quality metrics and lead continuous quality and reliability improvementsOwn architecture, interfaces, and technical strategy for a critical embedded componentAuthor and negotiate requirements and scope with stakeholdersDrive improvements in quality, stability, and delivery predictabilityMentor junior engineers and coach across teamsCommunicate technical content, tradeoffs, and risks to engineers, program managers, and leadershipMaintain a system-level mindset and align component decisions with overall product architectureRequirementsBachelor's Degree in Engineering (Computer/Electrical) or related field of studyMinimum 8 years of embedded software development experienceMinimum 5 years of experience in C programmingMinimum 5 years of experience in ARM architecture and low-level software developmentMinimum 1 year of experience with AUTOSAR concepts and integrationExperience with communication stacks such as CAN and Embedded EthernetProven experience optimizing memory footprint, CPU utilization, and compiler optionsExperience with software quality practices, metrics,



and defect reductionEffective communication across technical and non-technical audiencesAutomotive embedded software development experience is an advantageFamiliarity with MISRA, ASPICE, or ISO 26262 is an advantageExperience with performance profiling, static analysis, and toolchain optimization is an advantageExperience mentoring engineers is an advantageExperience with LIN, SOME/IP, or diagnostics over IP is an advantageCandidates must be legally entitled to work in CanadaFord does not sponsor work permit applicationsCore CompetenciesDemonstrates expertise in embedded C software development, particularly in ARM architecture, while driving performance optimization and software quality improvements.
