Basketball Manitoba and the Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association are seeking passionate and dedicated volunteers to take on the role of head coach or assistant coach in our community basketball programs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young athletes while helping grow the game at the grassroots level.

As a coach, you will play a vital role in teaching basketball skills and concepts at team practices and games, with support from the area Convenor. You will be responsible for fostering a positive and inclusive team environment, communicating with players and parents, and helping athletes develop not just as basketball players, but also as individuals.

Volunteering as a youth basketball coach is a chance to give back to the sport, inspire the next generation, and be a mentor to young athletes. Whether you are a former player, a basketball enthusiast, or someone looking to gain coaching experience, this role provides valuable leadership and teamwork skills that extend beyond the court.

Skills Required Experience as a player or coach in the sport of basketball or involvement as a coach in another sport is an asset but not required. The most significant qualities are a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a willingness to support and mentor young athletes.

Coach education opportunities are provided and available to all coaches in the program,



ensuring you have the knowledge and resources needed to succeed in your role. Whether you are new to coaching or have years of experience, there are training programs, mentorship opportunities, and certification pathways to help you grow and develop as a coach.
