A Before and After-School Childcare Counsellor helps oversee the safety and well-being of children enrolled in the program, while supporting the planning and execution of engaging, age-appropriate activities.

Reports to the Childcare Management Team and occasionally the Director of Recreation.

Pay Rate: $18.20/hour starting

Part-time, 6 - 20 hours per week Monday - Friday

Hours: 7:15 - 9:15am (Before School), 3:00 - 6:00pm (After School)

Must be available to work a minimum of 2 shifts per week

Full day training, Sunday, September 13 (Required)

Proposed start date: September 1, 2026

End Date: June 25, 2027

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative:

- Program plan age appropriate activities on an ongoing basis
- Complete programming forms and activity supply sheets as requested
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings and training sessions

Program:

- Actively participate in the delivery of programming with the children in your care
- Implement appropriate behaviour management procedures in accordance with established procedures
- Maintain a high level of safety and security
- Notify coordinator of any incidents, accidents, problems or concerns of the program




- Implement emergency procedures as required
- Ensure and maintain a clean and organized program environment

Other Duties:

- Work in a team environment
- Communicate with parents and clients in a positive, pleasant, and qualified manner
- Get approval from management and arrange for coverage when unable to work
- Dress appropriately for an active recreational program

CERTIFICATIONS:

- Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
- Vulnerable Sector Check (If over 18 years of age)
- AODA Certification
- WHMIS Training
