About the role:
We are seeking a Behavioural Counsellor for a 6-month contract position, with the possibility of extension based on funding, to support the transition of a client with complex needs from hospital to a community-based assisted living setting. The role will provide neurobehavioral consultation and program oversight, support the development and evaluation of individualized programming, and train staff to ensure consistent, high-quality program implementation and data collection. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the clinical, management and interdisciplinary teams to support a safe and successful transition and contribute to the development of services aligned with the Agency’s mandate.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES In consultation with the Clinical Services Team, the Behavioural Counsellor is accountable to:
- Provide consultation and oversight of individualized neurobehavioral programming, including development, implementation, monitoring and modification of behavioural strategies and service plans.
- Support the client's transition from hospital to the community-based assisted living program, working collaboratively with the client, family, hospital team and Agency stakeholders.
- Support behavioural assessment, service planning and evaluation, including data collection, analysis, progress monitoring and preparation of relevant clinical reports.
- Provide clinical guidance, coaching and consultation to managers and frontline staff to support consistent and effective implementation of client programming.
- Develop and deliver training to staff, families and other relevant stakeholders regarding behavioural strategies, client programs, data collection and appropriate supports.
- Participate in multidisciplinary clinical meetings, case conferences and other care-planning discussions,
supporting effective communication and coordination across the client's circle of care.
- Advocate for and with the client and serve as an appropriate clinical resource for families, community partners and other stakeholders.
- Maintain current knowledge of acquired brain injury, neurobehavioral practices, relevant provincial standards, legislation and community resources, and apply evidence-informed practices in service delivery.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of clinical and behavioural services in alignment with the Agency's mandate, policies and procedures.
- Maintain timely, accurate and confidential clinical, statistical and administrative documentation in accordance with Agency requirements and professional standards.
- Actively participate in supervision and performance development processes, including identifying and addressing professional development needs.
- Maintain timely, clear, and appropriate communication with management and staff teams, ensuring relevant information is shared with appropriate stakeholders.
- Perform other duties related to the position.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis, Psychology, Applied Disability Studies, Rehabilitation Science, Developmental Disabilities or related discipline. A Master's degree is considered an asset.
- Certification with Behaviour Analyst Certification Board (BCBA) and/ or registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) is considered an asset.
- Minimum four (4) years of experience providing behavioural consultation, neurobehavioral programming, case coordination, or rehabilitation services to individuals with acquired brain injury and/or complex behavioural needs is required.
- Thorough knowledge and demonstrated experience with clinical processes including Functional Behaviour Assessments, Functional Analysis, Behaviour Support Plans and behavioural interventions, including behavioural data collection, analysis and reporting.
- Experience working with individuals with acquired brain injury, vulnerable groups, and/or complex neurobehavioral needs is considered an asset.
- Ability to communicate in Urdu is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to teach, coach and train staff and other stakeholders in the implementation of behavioural and rehabilitation programs.
- Proficiency with computer applications and behavioural data collection, analysis and documentation systems.
- Strong clinical judgment, problem-solving, conflict-resolution and crisis management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, staff and multidisciplinary professionals.
- Strong professional, interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively and independently within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Highly organized and self-directed, with demonstrated ability to prioritize competing responsibilities, manage time effectively and exercise initiative.
- Previous supervisory or clinical coaching experience is considered an asset.
- Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage, including business-use coverage, as required for the position.

Hours of Work
- 40 hours per week, with flexibility required to meet operational, client, and program needs.
- Evenings and weekends, as needed.

- Primarily in-office, with travel to community locations and partner organizations as required.
- Regular use of computers and other office technology.
- Participation in the Agency's on-call rotation, as required.
Pay: $70,000.00-$81,000.00 per year
