Join Capital Bike as a Bicycle Valet Attendant!

The Bicycle Valet Attendant role supports the day-to-day operation of the City of Victoria Downtown Bicycle Valet bicycle valet service, helping cyclists safely park and retrieve their bikes while providing excellent customer service.

The City of Victoria Bicycle Valet

Capital Bike has supported the operation of the City of Victoria Bicycle Valet since 2022. The Valet is a free service for clients and operates 363 days per year, with extended hours during the spring, summer, and early fall.

The operation is outdoors, although staff work in a covered area and have access to a warm overcoat and warming space during colder months.

Responsibilities Include:

- Set up and close the daily bicycle valet site, including tents, tables, chairs, promotional materials, and signage
- Collect bicycles that were previously left in storage when required
- Complete daily security checks and report any damage, hazards, or unsafe materials
- Greet customers and provide friendly, productive service
- Assess bicycles for pre-existing damage during intake
- Provide customers with an appropriate bicycle tag and attach the matching tag to the bicycle
- Enter bicycle information into the tag tracking system and safely park bicycles
- Retrieve and return bicycles while ensuring tags match and completing the required tracking information
- Register bicycles in the 529 Program
- Provide access to basic bicycle maintenance equipment, such as a bike pump and tire levers, for minor emergency adjustments
- Ensure bicycles remain secure and in good condition while in Capital Bike's care
- Help maintain a positive, welcoming, and respectful setting for clients and colleagues

- Comfortable working outdoors and participating in event-based operations
- Physically able to lift steel-framed bicycles onto racks

Qualifications:

- Minimum of six months of customer service experience, or related volunteer experience demonstrating the ability to interact positively with customers
- Strong customer service focus, recognizing that the City of Victoria Bicycle Valet is a City service and must be operated with friendliness, efficiency, and a commitment to excellence
- Willingness to work flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings and weekends, depending on operational and event requirements

This is an active, customer-facing, outdoor position supporting Capital Bike's bicycle valet operations. Hours and work locations may vary depending on the operating schedule of the City of Victoria Bicycle Valet.
