Coding for Veterans
Toronto
Coding for Veterans is seeking a savvy mission-driven Outreach Specialist to lead student recruitment and enrollment growth for our cybersecurity, software development, and next-generation AI training programs. Our program is delivered in partnership with the University of Ottawa.
We're looking for a driven, relationship-first outreach professional to be the face of the Coding for Veterans program in the field. Your sole focus: finding veterans, reservists, military spouses, and currently serving members where they are, building trust, and helping them see coding training as their next step — then getting them enrolled.
This isn't a call-center job and it isn't a desk job. You'll be at transition events, job fairs, base community events, veteran resource centers, and spouse employment networks — having real conversations, one person at a time. You bring the hunting instinct and relentless activity of top field sales talent; we'll give you the story, the outcomes, and the credibility to back it up.
The ideal candidate understands military culture, transition challenges, and the decision-making process when selecting education and career pathways. This is a full time position, in person at our office in downtown Toronto.
What You'll Do
- Proactively identify and attend events, fairs, and community touchpoints where veterans, reservists, and military spouses gather
- Build and maintain relationships with base transition offices, veteran service organizations (VSOs), and spouse employment programs to create ongoing referral pipelines
- Have one-on-one conversations that uncover a prospect's situation and connect the program to their goals — without a hard-sell approach
- Manage a personal pipeline of prospects from first contact through enrollment, including follow-up on longer decision cycles
- Systematically cultivate referrals from current students and graduates as a core, ongoing source of new enrollments
- Track all outreach activity and enrollment progress in our Salesforce CRM system.
- Represent the program's credibility and reputation in every interaction — this audience talks to each other, and trust compounds (or breaks) rapid
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years in a field marketing or field sales role with a strong track record of hitting or exceeding targets (e.g., door-to-door, event-based, or territory sales — backgrounds like telecom field sales, student painting/franchise sales, or similar high-activity, self-directed roles are a strong fit)
- Strong listening and rapport-building skills — able to read a room and adjust approach, rather than running one script for everyone
- Comfortable with a longer, trust-based sales cycle rather than an instant close
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly within the territory, including some evenings/weekends for events
- No military background required — full onboarding and cultural training will be provided
Nice to Have
experience or connections within the veteran, reservist, or military spouse community; bilingual (English/French).
Compensation
Base salary $40,000–$45,000 CAD + uncapped commission ($15,000–$30,000+).
