Reporting to the Manager, Client Services, the Business Application Support Specialist plays a key role in facilitating the delivery of Information Technology (IT) services to users within an organisation by enabling the required business processes needed for the operation to be successful. The incumbent is responsible for enabling people to execute their responsibilities within their relevant business processes, by providing logistical support, IT-liaison services, coordination, and subject matter expert-based insights as well as for staying up to date on current Motor Vehicle Information System / Drivers License and General ID Card (MVIS/DLGIC) application functionality and features and furthering the understanding of the various practical uses of the application to support the evolving needs of Community Services and its collaboration partners.

Responsibilities The Business Application Support Specialist’s main responsibilities are but are not limited to:

- Answering support calls from users of the MVIS system with a positive attitude, always providing the best possible level of support in a qualified, courteous manner.
- Documenting all calls, tracking their status and the final resolution and business process flows.
- Troubleshooting, researching, resolving,



and responding to MVIS technical problems and questions from all system users, coordinating involvement of Community Services,
- Transportation and Infrastructure Nunavut (TIN)-IT and Vendor(s) (Canadian Bank Note) resources to bring issues to resolution.
- Reviewing, analyzing and interpreting reported issues, translating into system solutions as well as documenting solutions in a Knowledge Base and referring to the Knowledge Base for known solutions to problems in order to minimize the time of resolution.
- Testing new software releases prior to their implementation, documenting and reporting any problems to Community Services, TIN-IT and Vendor(s).
- Preparing regular reports that provide insights into the system’s health status and trends and proactively monitoring and fixing issues.

Qualifications The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized diploma in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field; along with two (2) years of relevant experience in process-driven applications, integration and workflow analysis and development. This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French.

Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
