Based in the North GTA, the Payroll and Benefits Manager will manage the full-cycle payroll process and benefits. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll, compliance with tax regulations, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing & Compliance:
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all employee, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure income tax compliance, including deductions, remittances, and year-end reporting.
- Process T4s, Records of Employment (ROEs), and WSIB & EI submissions.
- Manage garnishments, wage deductions, and statutory compliance reporting.
- Ensure accurate tracking of hours worked, overtime, and leave balances.
- Audit and reconcile payroll records to detect and resolve discrepancies.
Payroll & Benefits Support
- Maintain and update employee benefits enrollment and changes.
- Address payroll-related employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and benefits.
- Process termination pay, severance, and outstanding vacation balances.
- Prepare and reconcile payroll journal entries and upload data to the accounting system.
- Manage RRSP contributions, general ledger (GL) entries, and accruals.
- Support quarterly and annual audits with payroll and benefits documentation
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of payroll processing and benefits experience.
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance or related field. Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification preferred.
- Experience with HRIS/payroll systems such as Dayforce
- Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations, compliance, and financial reporting.
- Intermediate Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data validation.
- Understanding of accounting principles, monthly accruals, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Detail-oriented, problem-solving skills, and solid communication skills to support a high performing team culture.
