Position title: Constituent Relations & Equity Lead (President’s Office) Reports to: AMS President Employee status: Hourly Exempt, Appointed Length of term: September 9, 2026 – April 30, 2027 Hours per week: 20 hours per week Compensation: $21.00 per hour Position Purpose The Constituent Relations & Equity Lead is responsible for coordination between the AMS and its Constituencies, supporting student leadership, advancing initiatives of the AMS President’s Office, and advocating for equity and inclusion practices within the AMS. The position assists the President and the Executive in maintaining collaborative and effective relationships with AMS Constituencies working on furthering student life and building partnerships at UBC. The role is responsible for ensuring that the AMS is connected with AMS Constituencies across campus, is actively working with Constituency executives in addressing concerns, assisting them in navigating AMS processes and systems and connecting them with appropriate contacts and resources.

This position will also be responsible for conducting research related to equity and inclusion, as well as coordinating and executing relevant campaigns, consultations, and communications. The position will work collaboratively with all AMS Executives and student groups (Clubs, Constituencies, Student Resource Groups) and across the AMS to support and implement equity initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate Constituency-related and cooperative events and projects for the Executive Committee Provide proactive support and oversee initiatives for supporting AMS Constituencies





Attend President’s Council and work closely with Constituency Presidents, providing administrative support and problem-solving

Attending Constituency Council meetings as and when required

Assist with the delivery of major AMS events such as the Annual General Meeting

Lead coordination of the “Constituency of the Year” competition

Advise the Executive on both operational and strategic items in relation to AMS Constituencies

Uphold the AMS’s mission, values, constitution, and Strategic Plan

Work with the AMS President on issues and initiatives relating to equity and inclusion. Maintain active channels of communication with various student communities, especially those that support and advocate for marginalized communities.

Provide support to AMS staff, clubs, services, resource groups, and members on issues relating to equity and inclusion.

Participate in and lead the Constituency Equity Caucus. Implement and lead any initiatives that extend from the Caucus.

Work with the rest of the team on Presidential Projects, Policy Reviews, and Strategy

Sit on related UBC and AMS committees and working groups at the request of the President.

Support the President in preparing and delivering presentations, reports,



or proposals to AMS Council, Constituencies, and other key stakeholders.

Administrative and other duties as required by the President Qualifications and Experience Must have experience as part of one of the following at a minimum: Served as an executive of an AMS Constituency (preferred) or

Served as a direct deputy to an AMS Constituency executive (i.e. AVP) Must be a currently registered student at UBC Vancouver or one of its affiliated colleges

Must be able to work flexibly, adapting to the different needs and limitations of each project

Must proactively initiate cross-portfolio communication

Interest in student issues and advocacy, specifically related to equity and inclusion.

Strong public relations, teamwork, and organization skills

Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure

Organized, punctual, and detail-oriented

Experience with large - scale project management and event planning/coordination preferred

Proven track record of showing initiative and maintaining confidentiality

Able to work both in a team and individually Able to multitask and manage several projects with widely different themes

Interest in community building is an asset

Able to research and write high quality policies, research papers, briefing notes, and other communications is an asset
