We are currently seeking a talented and dedicated Head Cook to join our culinary team. Reporting directly to the Food Services Manager, this position plays a critical role in the daily operations of our kitchen, ensuring that our residents receive nutritious, delicious, and well-presented meals that cater to their dietary needs.
Core Competencies
- Culinary Skills: Strong cooking skills with experience in preparing a variety of dishes, including those that meet specific dietary needs. Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices is essential.
- Leadership: Ability to supervise and motivate kitchen staff, ensuring that the team works efficiently and effectively.
- Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail in food preparation, presentation, and cleanliness. Commitment to maintaining high standards in all aspects of the job.
- Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey instructions and collaborate with the Food Services Manager and other staff.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing dietary needs and preferences of residents, as well as to address unexpected challenges in the kitchen.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Meal Preparation: Proficiency in preparing and cooking meals according to established menus, ensuring that all dishes meet high standards of taste, presentation, and nutrition.
- Food Safety and Hygiene:
Comprehensive understanding of food safety regulations and hygiene practices, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards in all kitchen operations.
- Inventory Management: Experience in managing kitchen inventory, including ordering supplies, checking deliveries, and minimizing waste. Ability to ensure that all ingredients are fresh and properly stored.
- Quality Control: Ability to monitor food quality and presentation, making adjustments as necessary to maintain high standards. Capability to collaborate with the Food Services Manager to address any issues related to food service.

Education and Training
- Experience: Previous experience as a cook in a senior living, healthcare, or similar environment is highly desirable. Experience in a supervisory role within a kitchen is an asset.
- Certifications: A culinary diploma or certification is preferred. Relevant certifications in food safety and hygiene are required.
- Continuing Education: Commitment to staying abreast of industry trends and best practices through ongoing education and training.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
