Corporate Accountant — Sudbury, ON (Full-Time, On-Site)
A well-established Northern Ontario group of companies operating across construction and related industries is seeking a Corporate Accountant to support the financial operations of its multiple businesses. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accounting skilled who is actively pursuing their CPA designation and looking to gain broad experience in financial reporting, corporate accounting, and the construction industry. Working closely with the CFO and senior finance team, you'll play a key role in month-end reporting, financial analysis, reconciliations, and process improvements while developing toward the next stage of your career.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform full-cycle accounting for multiple companies within the group
- Prepare month-end and year-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and working papers
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor cash balances
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting
- Support government filings, including HST, payroll remittances, and other statutory reporting
- Assist with project costing, job profitability analysis, and reporting for construction operations
- Prepare and analyze financial reports and variance analyses
- Support external auditors during year-end audits
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Support the finance team on special projects and corporate initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Actively pursuing a CPA designation
- 2–5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting principles
- Experience with accounting software (Jonas Construction Software an asset)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Solid analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Construction accounting or multi-entity experience is an asset
