Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) SpecialistContract | Symbiotic Digital | CanadaPosted On 08/11/2026Job DescriptionPosition: Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) SpecialistLocation: Toronto, ON (Onsite)Job ID#: RQ10486Duration: 12 MonthsRole OverviewThe Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Specialist leads and supports the development of Privacy Impact Assessments to ensure that new technologies, information systems, programs, or policies comply with applicable privacy legislation, regulations, and best practices. The role focuses on identifying privacy risks, recommending mitigation strategies, and addressing stakeholder concerns in a public‑sector environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLead or support the development of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for current or enhanced technologies, systems, programs, and policiesEvaluate compliance with provincial, municipal, and federal privacy legislation, regulations, directives, standards, guidelines and internationally accepted Fair Information PracticesIdentify privacy risks and develop findings and recommendations for mitigation by business ownersDevelop and deliver PIA deliverables, including reports, briefing materials, and training or awareness contentPrepare in‑depth, audience‑specific documentation (e.G., PIA reports, executive briefing notes) using PIA, business analysis, risk analysis, and information management lifecycle methodologiesProvide privacy advice, best practices, and guidance on mitigation strategiesConsult, negotiate, and coordinate with technical, business, legal, and other subject matter expertsApply project management practices to manage timelines and deliverablesDeliver education and training related to privacy and PIAsRequired Qualifications & ExperienceMust HaveDevelop and deliver PIA deliverables (e.G., PIA Reports,



Education/Awareness/Training Materials)Following several methodologies (PIAmethodology, business analysis, risk analysis principles, IM lifecycle) prepares in-depth report tailored to the target audience (e.G., Privacy Impact Assessment Report, briefing notes for senior management) that analyses existing and proposed policies, programs and technical upgrades for risks andimpactson an individual’s personal information and privacy controls. Findings and recommendations for action areidentifiedfor business owners to action.Develop and deliver PIA related training to clients.Privacy & Policy KnowledgeStrong knowledge of privacy and security concepts, trends, and issues, and their impact on business processesExperience researching, interpreting, and applying privacy legislation, regulations, and jurisprudenceDemonstrated experience conducting PIAs in a public‑sector contextKnowledge of privacy‑enhancing best practicesAbility to interpret and apply Ontario privacy legislation, including FIPPA, MFIPPA, and PHIPAFamiliarity with federal and international privacy legislation (e.G., PIPEDA,
