Aegis Digital Compliance Inc. is a premier enterprise architecture and regulatory technology advisory firm based in Brampton, Ontario. We specialize in building secure, compliant digital infrastructures for the healthcare and financial sectors globally.
Beyond our corporate mandates, we are deeply committed to public digital safety. Through our community initiative, the Canadian Institute for Digital Autonomy (CIDA), we provide vital education on cyber safety, digital wellbeing, and data privacy to the public. We believe that digital autonomy is a fundamental right, and we are building a grassroots network of educators to help communities navigate the digital world safely.
The RoleAre you passionate about digital literacy and cybersecurity? CIDA is actively recruiting Cyber Warrior Volunteers to help us deliver our cyber safety and digital wellbeing curriculum across the Greater Toronto Area (and virtually across Canada).
As a Cyber Warrior, you will be the face of CIDA in the community. You will take our expertly designed curriculum and deliver engaging, accessible workshops to schools, community centers, seniors' groups, and youth organizations. You don't need to be a master hacker—you just need a solid understanding of digital safety best practices and a passion for teaching others how to protect themselves online.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Curriculum: Facilitate CIDA’s interactive cyber safety modules (covering topics like phishing, password hygiene, social media privacy, and digital footprints) to diverse community groups.
- Engage & Educate: Translate complex technical concepts into simple, actionable advice for non-technical audiences (youth, parents, and seniors).
- Mentor: Serve as a community resource and mentor for individuals looking to improve their digital literacy.
- Provide Feedback: Work with the Aegis/CIDA leadership team to refine course materials based on your on-the-ground experience with learners.
- Advocate: Promote the mission of CIDA and digital autonomy within your own networks.
Qualifications
- Communication Skills: Strong public speaking and presentation skills. You are comfortable standing in front of a room (or a Zoom screen) and keeping an audience engaged.
- Technical Literacy: A solid foundational understanding of everyday cybersecurity concepts, online privacy settings, and digital wellbeing practices.
- Background: Previous experience in IT, cybersecurity, compliance, education, or community outreach is a significant asset, but not strictly required.
- Empathy & Patience: The ability to teach individuals with varying levels of technological proficiency without using intimidating jargon.
- Commitment: Ability to commit to facilitating a minimum of 2–3 workshops per month (approximately 5–8 hours monthly).
Why Volunteer With Us?
- Make a Tangible Impact: Directly contribute to reducing cybercrime and digital exploitation in your local community.
- Professional Development: Gain hands-on instructional experience and deepen your own understanding of digital compliance and safety.
- Networking: Connect with the leadership team at Aegis Digital Compliance Inc. and other tech professionals passionate about tech-for-valuable.
- LinkedIn Endorsement: Active volunteers who consistently deliver the curriculum will receive professional recommendations and endorsements on LinkedIn from Aegis leadership to boost your own career profile.
