Job Description
As a Senior Surveying Coordinator within Pomerleau’s Civil & Infrastructure team, you will play a central role in the planning, coordination, and strategic allocation of surveying teams across all of our projects. Working on large-scale construction projects—ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion—you will have the opportunity to act as a key liaison between field operational needs and the HR management of surveying teams. Leveraging your in-depth understanding of construction sites and their realities, you will ensure optimal resource placement to support our construction teams in delivering major projects.
What you will do
- Plan, organize, and coordinate the allocation of surveying workforce across all projects (civil, building, and major projects).
- Respond to field requests by determining who should be assigned where and when, based on operational needs and required skill sets.
- Ensure visibility and a comprehensive understanding of available resources and ongoing projects.
- Support and/or lead the recruitment of surveying resources in collaboration with the Talent Acquisition team.
- Maintain ongoing communication with superintendents and foremen to understand field realities and adjust assignments accordingly.
- Assign resources based on individual strengths, experience, and project type.
- Conduct occasional site visits to support teams, understand challenges, and adjust planning as needed.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of workforce management practices in surveying.
- Support the hiring process for new department employees and ensure their full integration.
- Ensure resources meet required qualifications by providing training as needed.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and diplomacy in all communications.
This role could be for you if you have
- A degree in surveying or equivalent experience in a related technical role.
- Several years of field experience, ideally as a surveyor or in a field coordination role.
- Strong knowledge of surveying techniques and equipment.
- A desire to transition from a highly field-based role to one more focused on planning and office-based work, while maintaining a strong connection to operations.
- A strong ability to manage resources, plan workforce needs, and optimize personnel allocation.
- Strong communication skills: the ability to effectively engage with superintendents, foremen, and project managers—with tact, responsiveness, and professionalism.
- An excellent understanding of field challenges and operational needs.
- Robust prioritization, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple requests simultaneously.
Benefits
- RRSP with up to 5% employer matching
- Hybrid work model for corporate roles
- Employee stock ownership program
