Responsibilities Source and evaluate new diversifying alternative investment strategies across equities, fixed income and credit, arbitrage, volatility, macro, and commodities Apply a structured framework assessing standalone performance and impact on existing portfolios Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospective strategies and external managers Conduct investment due diligence covering strategy, track record, transparency, and risk management Evaluate capacity-sharing, co-investment, and managed account partnership structures Monitor onboarded managers against performance, risk, and operational benchmarks Work with operations and prime brokerage teams to assess financing costs, cross-margin eligibility, and capital deployment efficiency Contribute to portfolio construction, allocation sizing, leverage, and capacity management decisions Partner with the Head of Multi-Strategy, portfolio managers, and risk team to align strategies with mandates and risk frameworks Present recommendations to the investment committee and senior leadership Coordinate with legal, compliance, and operations teams on onboarding, contracts, and regulatory matters Requirements 5–7+ years of experience in the alternative investments industry Direct exposure to hedge fund strategies, multi-strategy platforms, or alternatives manager research Deep understanding of equity long/short, credit, arbitrage, and alternative or niche strategies Ability to evaluate strategies on a net, risk-adjusted basis, including fees, financing costs, and structural considerations Working knowledge of prime brokerage relationships, cross-margining, and capital efficiency mechanics Experience with managed account and commingled fund structures and their operational, legal,



and risk trade-offs Strong quantitative and analytical skills Ability to build and interpret risk/return and portfolio contribution models Solid written and verbal communication skills Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field CFA designation or equivalent strongly preferred Prior experience at a multi-strategy hedge fund, fund-of-funds, or institutional allocator with manager selection responsibility preferred Existing relationships within the Canadian and/or global alternative investment manager community preferred Experience negotiating managed account agreements, side letters, and prime brokerage documentation preferred Familiarity with risk management systems preferred Canadian experience is not required Core Competencies
