Join our caring and culturally grounded team as an Early Childhood Educator (ECE)!

Conayt Friendship Society is seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to support our Aboriginal Head Start Daycare at the NVIT Merritt Campus. Working as part of a team-oriented team, you will help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children aged 3-5 years.

Our program serves NVIT students and staff, as well as Métis and urban Indigenous families in the Nicola Valley. Guided by the Aboriginal Head Start model, we support children’s growth and development through culture and language, education, health, nutrition, social support, and family involvement, while honouring Indigenous values, culture, and community.

We are looking for an educator who values inclusion, cultural learning, and teamwork, and who is committed to helping children learn, grow, and thrive in a welcoming and respectful environment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

- Support the planning and delivery of engaging, age-appropriate programming for children ages 3–5
- Assist with daily classroom activities and learning experiences
- Support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
- Create and maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment
- Follow licensing, health, and safety standards
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and community partners
- Observe and document children's progress and development
- Maintain attendance records and required documentation
- Work collaboratively with staff to support program excellence
- Conduct daily health and safety checks, including playgrounds and classroom inspections.
- Support the integration of Indigenous culture, traditions, language, and community values into programming

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Required

· Valid Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certification (BC)

· First Aid Certificate with CPR

· Food Safe Certification (or willingness to obtain)





· Ability to pass a BC Criminal Record Check (working with children/vulnerable sector)

· Up-to-date Immunization record (as required by Child Care Licensing)

Skills & Attributes

· Experience working with young children in an ECE setting

· Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills

· Ability to work effectively as part of a team

· Knowledge and awareness of Indigenous cultures and Friendship Centre programming

· Comfortable working with diverse populations

WORKING CONDITIONS

· Classroom-based with indoor and outdoor activities

· Active, hands-on environment supporting young children

· Occasional flexibility in scheduling may be required
