Experienced Excavator / Skid Steer Operator

Riverstone Excavation & Underground Ltd. is looking for an experienced Excavator / Skid Steer Operator to join our growing excavation and civil construction team.

We are looking for a skilled, dependable operator with real construction experience who can safely and efficiently operate equipment on a variety of excavation, underground utility and civil projects.

Experienced subcontractors are also welcome to apply.

Responsibilities & Experience

- Solid experience operating excavators and skid steers
- Experience with 20-ton excavators and smaller machines
- Excavating for water, sewer and storm systems
- Trenching and working around existing utilities
- Excavating for foundations and footings
- Residential and commercial site excavation
- Roadwork and culvert installations
- Lot clearing, stump removal and site preparation
- Loading tri-axle dump trucks efficiently
- Backfilling and compacting excavations
- Rough grading and finish grading
- Spreading and grading granular materials
- Experience working around pipe layers and underground crews
- Able to dig accurately to grades and elevations
- Experience using laser levels and grade equipment
- Able to read site plans and construction drawings
- Comfortable working in tight areas and around existing structures
- Experience with demolition and heavy earthmoving is an asset

- Experienced operators only
- Must be hardworking, reliable and punctual
- Must have own reliable transportation to and from work




- Mechanically inclined and able to identify basic equipment issues
- Must perform daily equipment inspections
- Take pride in keeping equipment clean, greased and properly maintained
- Strong understanding of excavation and job-site safety
- Able to work independently when required
- Good communication with foremen, pipe layers, truck drivers and other crew members
- Must be a team player and willing to help outside the machine when required
- Must take pride in quality workmanship and productivity

We are looking for someone who can do more than simply operate the controls. We want an operator who understands excavation, grades, production and how to work efficiently with the rest of the crew.
