Conayt Friendship Society is a respected Indigenous-led organisation dedicated to supporting individuals, families, and communities throughout the Nicola Valley. We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Finance Assistant (Accounts Payable and Receivable) to join our team help support programs that make a meaningful difference in the community.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant provides essential support for the organization’s day-to-day financial operations, with a primary focus on accounts payable and account receivable functions. Responsibilities include processing invoices and payments, managing accounts receivable, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting financial reporting and reconciliations activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process vendor invoices and ensure proper coding, approvals, and supporting documentation
- Prepare purchase orders, payment requests, cheque requisitions, and electronic payments
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable
- Receive, record, and reconcile incoming payments
- Prepare and deliver bank deposits
- Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations
- Assist with financial reporting, audits, and budget-related activities
- Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems
- Responding to vendor, client, and funding partner inquiries as required
- Maintain donation payment records and issue acknowledgements
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Provide administrative support to the finance department as required
QUALIFICATIONS · Certificate, Diploma, or training in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping, Business or a related field
· Minimum two (2) years of related bookkeeping, accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or related experience
· Strong knowledge of financial and accounting systems (experience with Xyntax is an asset)
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
SKILLS & ABILITIES
· Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
· Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage high volumes of work
· Proficient computer skills, including accounting software
· Strong problem-solving, time-management, and organizational skills
· High level of confidentiality, diligence, and reliability
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Comfortable working with diverse populations
REQUIREMENTS
- Successful Criminal Record Check
- Proof of education and certification (if selected for interview)
- Minimum of three (3) professional references
- Driver’s License an Asset
