About us
Socius is a friendly, family-oriented Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy in Lindenwoods. We coach kids and adults, gi and no-gi, every day, and many of our families train together. We’re hobbyist-first and no-intimidation — people come here to learn, get fit, and be part of a welcoming community. We’re growing, and we’re hiring our first dedicated front desk associate to be a warm, familiar face at the academy in the evenings.
The role
You’re the person members and visitors see when they walk in. On a typical shift you’ll:
- Greet everyone who comes in and make sure every person checks in for class — no exceptions.
- Run the front desk: answer the phone, answer member questions about their memberships, and answer walk-in questions about pricing and programming.
- Book and close trials: book free trials for walk-ins and interested prospects, welcome trial students, walk them through their options, and sign new members up start to finish. When someone isn’t ready to sign the same day, you rebook them for a second trial on the spot.
- Call leads — outbound (a core part of the job): every shift you’ll proactively phone recent and existing leads to follow up, book free trials, confirm the day’s trials, and return anyone who asked for a callback. We give you the lead list and the scripts; you make the calls. If you’re comfortable on the phone and don’t mind picking it up, you’ll do well here.
- Keep the CRM clean and follow up: log outcomes and keep our contact records and pipeline current; reach out to members who’ve gone quiet to check in and find out when they’re coming back; follow up on past-due payments; and handle holds, cancellations, and membership changes.
- Handle retail: keep the front desk and retail area organized, track gear/merch stock, and ring sales through our point-of-sale.
- Help with communications: monitor and respond to incoming emails and texts, and schedule the occasional social media post.
- Help run events and promos: run the desk side of our seasonal events (open house, BBQ, the in-house tournament,
gear sales, challenges). That means sign-ups, payments, RSVPs, and handing clean numbers back to the owner, plus helping keep our yearly events calendar full so every month has something scheduled across our programs.
- Close out the night: at the end of each shift, fill out a short close-out report — leads in, trials booked and shown, new sign-ups, cancellations, retail sales, and anything the owner needs to follow up on.
Who we’re looking for We can teach the systems and the scripts. What we can’t teach — and what matters most — is:
- Strong values and integrity
- A real work ethic — you take ownership and follow through
- Coachability — you want feedback and you act on it
Nice to have (or eager to learn):
- Comfort with technology — we run AI tools and dashboards for the front desk and coaching staff, and they’re a growing part of the job
- Friendly, confident phone and in-person manner
- Any sales, reception, or customer-service background
Schedule: Three shifts a week to start — Tuesdays & Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 8PM evening class, plus Saturday mornings, roughly 9:30 AM to 1130 AM. About 10 hours a week. Real room to grow: we expect to add Monday and Wednesday shifts as the role proves out, and some of the work (like lead callbacks) can be done remotely.
