Coeur Mining

British Columbia

We Pursue a Higher Standard

We are a U.S.-based, well-diversified, growing precious metals producer with seven wholly owned operations: the New Afton gold-copper mine in British Columbia, Canada, the Rainy River gold-silver mine in Ontario, Canada, the Las Chispas silver-gold mine in Sonora, Mexico, the Palmarejo gold-silver mine in Chihuahua, Mexico, the Rochester silver-gold mine in Nevada, the Kensington gold mine in Alaska and the Wharf gold mine in South Dakota. In addition, the Company wholly-owns the Silvertip polymetallic critical minerals exploration project in British Columbia, Canada.

Coeur Silvertip is one of the highest-grade silver-zinc lead projects in the world. Coeur is focused on targeted exploration of Silvertip’s large, highly prospective land package. Recent drilling results reinforce Silvertip's growing potential as an emerging tier-one asset for the Company.

Coeur Silvertip prioritizes safety, teamwork, career development and growth. If you want to grow your career in a progressive, team-oriented setting, apply today.

About the Job:

The Underground Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for providing practical and technically sound geotechnical support to underground mining operations at Silvertip. Working closely with Technical Services, Mine Operations and other technical disciplines, the role ensures the protected and efficient development, extraction, and rehabilitation of underground excavations through effective ground control, geotechnical design, monitoring, and risk management.

This site-based position combines hands-on field engagement with engineering analysis and design, supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of the Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP) and other geotechnical risk management systems. The successful candidate will apply rock mechanics principles, monitoring data, and engineering judgment to develop practical solutions that enhance safety, operational performance, and mine value.

Responsibilities:

Geotechnical Engineering & Ground Control

- Provide geotechnical and ground control support for underground mine operations, development, production, and rehabilitation activities.
- Conduct routine underground inspections, damage mapping, field assessments, and condition reviews to identify geotechnical hazards and verify excavation performance.
- Perform stability assessments using empirical, analytical, observational, and numerical modelling methods to evaluate excavation performance and support ground support design.
- Develop and review ground support designs, cable bolt layouts, rehabilitation plans, and geotechnical work packages for underground excavations. Review drill and blast designs to minimize overbreak, underbreak, blast-induced damage, and dilution while optimizing excavation stability.

- Perform stope stability assessments and support the design of underground mining layouts and extraction sequences.
- Integrate rock mass characterization, structural geology, geotechnical logging, and mapping data into design and risk assessments.
- Review mine designs, development layouts, engineering drawings, and operational plans to identify geotechnical risks and recommend mitigation measures.
- Evaluate groundwater conditions and their influence on excavation stability, recommending mitigation measures where required.

Monitoring, Instrumentation & Risk Management

- Lead geotechnical hazard identification and risk assessments for underground excavations, major development headings, stopes, and mine infrastructure.
- Support and maintain geotechnical monitoring programs, including instrumentation, convergence monitoring, seismic monitoring, inspections, and surveillance activities;
- Assess and monitor the stability of underground infrastructure including ramps, ore passes, crusher chambers, pump stations, ventilation raises, refuge stations, and other permanent excavations. Analyze and interpret monitoring data to evaluate ground performance and provide recommendations for operational decision-making, including development and maintenance of Trigger Action Response Plans (TARPs).
- Support geotechnical risk management processes, including Ground Control Management Plans, seismic risk management programs, and other site-specific geotechnical systems.
- Investigate geotechnical incidents, abnormal ground conditions, and ground support performance issues, providing recommendations for corrective actions.

Quality Assurance & Operational Support

- Support and lead ground support quality assurance and quality control programs, including:
- Ground support installation verification
- Pull testing, Resin testing and Shotcrete testing
- Documentation and tracking of deficiencies

- Manage and supervise quality of geotechnical logging and mapping, including independently performing these tasks when required. Maintain geotechnical databases, mapping records, monitoring data, and ground support performance information to support engineering analysis and regulatory reporting.
- Coordinate geotechnical priorities with Mine Operations and Technical Services teams to ensure timely execution of ground control and rehabilitation activities.
- Provide technical oversight of contractors performing rehabilitation, cable bolting, shotcrete application, instrumentation installation,

and ground support quality assurance activities.
- Conduct reconciliation of geotechnical designs against actual excavation performance and recommend improvements to mine design, sequencing, and ground support practices.
- Participate in vendor evaluations, ground support trials, consultant coordination, and implementation of new technologies and best practices.
- Communicate geotechnical design intent, recommendations, and priorities effectively to Operations and technical stakeholders including Corporate Operations and Technical Services staff.

Planning & Technical Leadership

- Provide geotechnical recommendations and operational decision-making to short-, medium-, and long-range mine planning activities, including sequencing, rehabilitation requirements, operational constraints, and risk assessments.
- Maintain, review, and continuously improve the Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP), Ground Support Standards, and associated geotechnical procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Support and mentor Exploration and Technical Services staff.
- Review and provide technical input on work completed by external consultants and contractors.
- Stay current with advancements in underground geotechnical engineering, rock mechanics, monitoring technologies, and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Rock Mechanics, or a related field is considered an asset.
- 4 to 8 years of relevant experience in underground geotechnical engineering, rock mechanics, ground control, mine engineering, or geotechnical consulting.
- Registered as a Qualified Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligible for immediate registration with EGBC.

- Experience in operating underground mines is highly preferred.
- Experience with geotechnical instrumentation, monitoring systems, ground support QA/QC programs, and rehabilitation planning is preferred.

Additional Information:

- Willing to work a two-week rotation schedule, with 12-hour shifts per day at a remote camp.
- Eligible for Annual Bonus.
- Our current designated marshalling locations are Vancouver, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Calgary, Edmonton, Whitehorse, Teslin, and Watson Lake.
