Pediatric Urgent Care (PUC) is one of Ontario's largest multi-site outpatient pediatric healthcare organizations, providing comprehensive pediatric services across multiple clinic locations throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

Position Summary The Director of Healthcare Operations will provide executive leadership for the organization's daily operations while supporting the continued expansion of Pediatric Urgent Care across Ontario.

Working directly with the Executive Leadership Team, physicians, healthcare professionals, and administrative leaders, this individual will oversee all operational aspects of current and future clinic locations while ensuring exceptional patient care, continuous quality improvement, and organizational excellence.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated healthcare leader capable of building strong healthcare partnerships, developing multidisciplinary services, improving operational performance, recruiting healthcare professionals, and preparing the organization for sustainable future growth.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership

- Provide executive operational leadership across all current and future clinic locations.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of all clinics.
- Develop standardized operational procedures across all locations.
- Ensure operational consistency throughout the organization.
- Support clinic managers and supervisors.
- Lead multidisciplinary administrative teams.
- Ensure compliance with PHIPA, occupational health and safety legislation, and regulatory standards.
- Develop policies, operational procedures, and best practices.

Patient Care Excellence
- Improve patient access to healthcare services.
- Enhance patient experience and patient satisfaction.
- Improve patient flow and reduce wait times.
- Develop initiatives that improve healthcare quality.
- Monitor patient care quality indicators.
- Implement evidence-based operational improvements.
- Support physicians in delivering exceptional clinical care.
- Promote a culture of compassion, professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Healthcare Partnerships
- Build collaborative relationships with:
- Community Clinics
- Family Health Teams
- Ontario Health
- Community healthcare organizations
- Specialists
- Family physicians
- Allied healthcare providers
- Government agencies
- Hospitals
- Create new referral pathways.




- Develop collaborative patient care initiatives.
- Expand multidisciplinary healthcare services.

Organizational Growth
- Prepare the organization for future expansion.
- Identify opportunities for additional clinic locations.
- Conduct market analysis and demographic research.
- Identify underserved communities.
- Negotiate and coordinate new clinic opportunities.
- Coordinate new clinic openings.
- Assist with lease planning and operational setup.
- Develop scalable operational systems.
- Media Spoke Executive
- Establish standardized processes that can be replicated across future locations.

Recruitment & Human Resources
- Recruit physicians.
- Recruit allied healthcare professionals.
- Recruit clinic managers and administrative personnel.
- Support physician onboarding.
- Develop orientation programs.
- Lead staff development.
- Coach and mentor management staff.
- Conduct performance reviews.
- Promote employee engagement and retention.

New Services Development Identify opportunities to establish and expand services such as:
- Pediatric subspecialty clinics
- Family Medicine
- Allied Health Programs
- Mental Health Services
- Psychology
- Speech-Language Pathology
- Dietetics
- Developmental Services
- Community outreach initiatives
- New clinical partnerships

Performance & Quality Improvement Develop measurable organizational outcomes, including:
- Patient satisfaction
- Wait time reduction
- Access to care
- Physician recruitment
- Clinic utilization
- Operational efficiency
- Staff engagement
- Quality indicators
- Patient outcomes
- Referral growth
- Service expansion
- Financial stewardship within approved budgets

Prepare monthly operational reports and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.

Strategic Leadership

- Participate in executive planning.
- Assist with annual operational planning.
- Develop long-term organizational initiatives.
- Recommend innovative technologies.
- Lead operational projects.
- Support digital transformation initiatives.
- Evaluate new healthcare technologies.
- Improve organizational efficiency through innovation.

Availability The successful candidate must:
- Travel between all clinic locations.
- Be available to support operational matters outside regular business hours when required.
- Maintain a visible leadership presence across the organization.
- Hold a valid Ontario driver's licence and reliable vehicle.

Mileage reimbursement will be provided.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, Health Sciences, or related discipline.
- Master's Degree considered an asset.
- Minimum five years of progressive healthcare leadership experience.
- Experience managing multiple healthcare sites.

Compensation & BenefitsBase Salary CAD $90,000–$100,000 annually

Performance Bonus

Annual performance bonus of up to 10% of annual salary, based on achievement of mutually agreed organizational objectives and key performance indicators (KPI).

- Recruitment of physicians and allied healthcare professionals
- Expansion of healthcare services
- Development of healthcare partnerships
- Improved patient satisfaction; measured by google reviews
- Reduced patient wait times, leakage, no-shows
- Creating other avenues of Non-OHIP services
- Improved operational efficiency
- Successful implementation of quality improvement initiatives
- Achievement of annual organizational objectives
- Organisation revenue

Annual salary review based upon:

Vacation
- Two (2) weeks paid vacation annually.
- Increased to three (3) weeks after two years of continuous employment.
