The Role
We are seeking a skilled and certified HVAC Mechanic / Technician to join the Smith and Long Mechanical Team. In this role, you will support our customers with on-site maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), reporting directly to our Service Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
System Maintenance & Repair: Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and service various types of commercial and industrial HVAC, heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems.
Detailed Work Orders: Provide comprehensive, accurate work orders outlining work performed, replacement parts used, and any equipment deficiencies identified on site.
Customer Excellence & Representation:
Communicate professionally with clients and represent Smith and Long to the highest standard of customer service at all times.
Teamwork & Apprentice Mentorship: Work collaboratively with field team members and provide constructive technical direction and guidance to registered HVAC apprentices.
Safety & Code Adherence: Strictly adhere to company health and safety policies, provincial building codes, TSSA regulations, and manufacturer operating standards.
Office & Dispatch Coordination: Communicate promptly with service coordinators and office staff to ensure all dispatch tasks, work orders, and parts orders are executed in a timely manner.
What You Bring to the Table (Skills & Qualifications):
Required Trade Licences: Must hold a valid 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic License, G1 Gas Technician License, and ODP (Ozone Depletion Prevention) Certificate.
Field Experience: 2–5+ years of verified field experience as a licensed HVAC Journeyperson working in commercial and industrial service environments. Specialized Systems Asset: Hands-on experience with commercial boiler systems, hydronics, chillers, and building automation controls is considered a strong asset.
Customer-Focused Attitude: Strong client service mindset with excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Driver's Licence & Mobility:
Must possess a valid Ontario Driver's License (clean abstract) with the ability to reliably commute and travel across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
