Théla is committed to a collaborative team environment where therapists can grow professionally while supporting clients across Ontario through virtual sessions and in-person services in Markham. Care is offered in multiple languages, including English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, to better serve diverse communities.
Role Description The Intern, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) will provide virtual psychotherapy services to clients across Ontario under appropriate clinical supervision and in alignment with regulatory requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, developing treatment plans, facilitating individual and relational therapy sessions, maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation, and participating in regular supervision and case consultations. The role also involves collaborating with the clinical team, contributing to a trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice, and adhering to ethical and professional standards of care.
This is a contract role and is primarily remote, with potential opportunities for limited in-person work depending on client and clinic needs.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Psychology and Mental Health, with the ability to apply evidence-based approaches in a trauma-informed, culturally responsive manner.
- Skills in Counseling and Relationship Counseling, including conducting therapeutic sessions, building rapport, and supporting clients through complex emotional and relational concerns.
- Awareness of Medicine-related considerations as they intersect with mental health (e.g., psychopharmacology basics, collaboration with healthcare providers, holistic care planning).
- Currently registered, or eligible to register, as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
- Experience or training in working with diverse populations, including culturally and linguistically diverse communities; proficiency in additional languages such as Mandarin or Cantonese is an asset.
- Excellent communication, active listening, and documentation skills, with strong qualified boundaries and ethical judgment.
- Comfort with telehealth platforms, secure digital record-keeping, and providing care in a remote environment.
- Commitment to ongoing learning, supervision, and reflective practice, with an interest in trauma-informed, collaborative team-based care.
