Learning Coach

Job Title: Learning Coach

Reports To: Special Education Coordinator

Location: School

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary The Learning Coach works with students to provide academic, organizational, and social-emotional support to help them reach their full learning potential. They work with teachers and support staff to implement effective learning strategies, monitor progress, and support goals as identified in the Individual Education Plans. These goals and strategies are developed using diagnostic assessments and supported by data.

Key Responsibilities

- Support students in goal setting and self-advocacy
- Help implement individualized learning or education plans
- Monitor progress and communicate feedback to teachers and parents
- Encourage student engagement and motivation
- Maintain accurate documentation of support and sessions
- Collaborate with educators and staff to adapt teaching strategies
- Support a positive classroom and learning setting

Qualifications

- Degree in Education
- Special Education (Parts 1 & 2) or commitment to obtain
- Reading (Parts 1 & 2) or commitment to obtain
- Member, in good standing, with OCT
- Experience working with children in an educational setting
- Knowledge of learning strategies and study techniques




- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs is an asset

The Community

Grassy Narrows is located 50 minutes south of Kenora on a paved highway. It is 3 hours from Winnipeg. The community has a newly built medical clinic, arena, and community center. It hosts multiple activities throughout the year.
