Date of Posting: Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Human Rights Office Manager, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Contract: Full Time Permanent Position The University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for the position of Manager, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion within the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Human Rights (EDIHR) Office. Reporting to the Director, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Human Rights, the successful candidate will play a leadership role in advancing UPEI's commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging. This position supports the University's strategic priorities by providing expert advice, leadership, education, and program development across a broad range of academic and administrative functions, while contributing to the implementation of institutional equity initiatives and compliance with external equity requirements.

Health and Dental Care Perks Provide leadership for EDIHR operational activities, including supervising staff, developing and implementing work plans, supporting office communications and reporting, and advancing strategic institutional initiatives Develop and implement equity-informed approaches by applying human rights principles, professional standards, and institutional values to complex and emerging issues Lead and support academic and research equity initiatives, including Canada Research Chairs (CRC) compliance, Tri-Agency EDI requirements, faculty hiring, promotion and tenure equity processes, and research-related equity advising Provide advice and support regarding inclusive curriculum development, equitable learning outcomes, inclusive pedagogical practices, policy implementation,
and equity impact assessments. Design, develop, coordinate, and evaluate EDI education, training, and engagement initiatives for faculty, staff, students, hiring committees, and student leaders Collaborate with Human Resources, the Teaching and Learning Centre, academic units, and administrative departments to integrate equity principles into recruitment, performance management, professional development, and institutional practices Foster collaborative relationships across the University and with external partners to advance institutional equity goals and support equitable practices. Represent the EDIHR Office within professional associations, sector networks, and communities of practice Graduate degree in a relevant field such as equity studies, human rights, education, law, social work, communications, public administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
Demonstrated experience leading equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives within a large, complex organization Familiarity with academic governance, faculty culture, and university environments Experience developing and delivering education, training, and engagement programs Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches to education and community engagement Experience providing strategic advice and consultation on equity-related matters Strong relationship-building, facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills,
with the ability to exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive and confidential matters Knowledge of academic governance structures, research administration, Canada Research Chairs requirements, and Tri-Agency EDI requirements Understanding of equity considerations in recruitment, classification, procurement, space planning, and other institutional systems and processes Knowledge of collective agreements and equity considerations within unionized environments ASSETS: Experience with Canada Research Chairs compliance and/or Tri-Agency EDI initiatives Experience working collaboratively with unions and equity partners in a unionized environment UPEI is committed to equity, diversity, inclusion, and reconciliation and believes in providing a positive learning and working environment where every person feels empowered to contribute.
