Manitoba Field Agronomist – Nursery Operations (Permanent Full-time)

Location: Morden, MB

DL Seeds is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead our canola breeding and pathology nursery operations in Manitoba.

Core Responsibilities

- To plan, coordinate and organize all aspects of breeding and pathology nursery sites in Manitoba.
- Trial Execution: Plan trial layouts, prepare and treat seed, plant small plot research trials, and manage crop protection/site maintenance.
- Data Collection: Scout plots regularly, record phenotypic data, measure disease/pest levels, and harvest plots using specialized small-plot equipment.
- Collaboration: Work alongside our plant breeders, pathologist, agronomy and lab team to bring industry leading products to our customers.
- Establish and maintain disease nursery locations for important canola diseases including Verticillium, Blackleg, Fusarium and Clubroot
- Execute the collection of data for variety registration packages
- Carry out specific breeding projects relating to developing traits in the DL Seeds breeding pipeline
- Train and supervise seasonal field staff maintaining safe work procedures and standard operating protocols across all operations.

Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, Plant Science, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- 1-2 field seasons of experience in agronomy and/or field research is considered an asset.
- Ability to operate small plot research equipment including tractors, seeders,



sprayers, and combines is considered an asset.
- Solid organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks, manage seasonal priorities, and work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in both an individual and team setting.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Teams) and familiarity with agricultural data management software is considered an asset.
- Must be a resident of Canada with a valid Class 5 driver’s license (Class 3 driver’s license is considered an asset; no public transportation to research station locations).
- Willingness to work overtime and extended hours in the field during peak planting and harvest seasons.
