Mainland Construction Materials is currently hiring for a Milling Foreperson (union) to join its Winvan Paving division. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with road-building experience who is ready to step into a leadership role.

The Position: The Milling Foreperson is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising daily milling operations to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with contract specifications. This role is accountable for driving production, maintaining accurate documentation, ensuring regulatory compliance, and developing crew members to perform at a high level. The Milling Foreperson leads by example and sets the standard for safety, accountability, workmanship, and professionalism in the field.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in roadway milling operations.
- Strong working knowledge of milling equipment, grade control systems, and roadway specifications.
- Demonstrated leadership experience supervising and training field crews.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, project plans, and contract documents.
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime as required.
- Valid BC Driver’s License (Code 20 Trailer endorsement preferred).
- Ability to work in a quick-paced, production-driven environment.
Responsibilities (including, but not limited to): Safety & Compliance Responsibilities
- Complete Daily Hazard Assessments (DHAs) prior to the start of each shift.
- Conduct and document weekly tailgate safety meetings.
- Enforce all company safety policies, regulatory requirements, and site-specific safety procedures.
- Complete and submit incident and near-miss reports in a timely manner.
- Complete Ground Disturbance Program (GDP) documentation when required.
- Ensure Exposure Control Plane (Silica Tool) are completed and followed
Essential Duties
- Review work orders, project plans, specifications, and scope requirements prior to mobilization to ensure a clear understanding of job expectations.
- Plan, organize, and supervise daily milling operations in accordance with project requirements.
- Conduct daily morning crew meetings to review safety requirements, job scope, production targets, and the daily game plan.
- Lead, motivate,
and hold crew members accountable to meet or exceed production goals without compromising safety or workmanship standards.
- Ensure all required tools, equipment, and materials are on site, operational, and appropriate for the scheduled work.
- Monitor equipment performance and coordinate maintenance needs to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
- Ensure time card entries are completed accurately on a daily basis.
- Measure and verify completed work quantities at the end of each shift.
- Complete and submit Daily Quantity Reports (DQRs) accurately and on time.
- Prepare and submit Extra Work Orders (EWOs) when applicable.
- Maintain accurate daily documentation including labor, equipment hours, production rates, and delays.
- Take clear before-and-after photographs to document job conditions and completed work.
- Train, mentor, and develop crew members to improve skills, efficiency, and overall team performance.
- Provide ongoing instruction on safe work practices, equipment operation, and company expectations.
- Coordinate effectively with Superintendents, Project Managers, inspectors, subcontractors, and other trades.
- Communicate next-day work plans and expectations clearly to the crew.
- Ensure the job site is left clean, organized, and safe at the end of each shift.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: From $49.00 per hour
