Join a collaborative, fast-paced team providing holistic, patient-centered care for individuals with neurological conditions. As a Nurse Clinician, you will lead, mentor, and support staff while maintaining bedside competency and fostering a culture of safety and quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee the care of all patients on the unit, maintaining a working knowledge of each patient’s diagnosis, condition, plan of care, discharge plan, and family dynamics. Assist the multidisciplinary team in creating detailed plans of care, including medical management, discharge planning, and repatriation. Liaise with nursing staff, physicians, allied health professionals, patients, and families throughout the shift to ensure timely admissions, discharges, and patient flow.
Constantly triage competing demands and prioritize tasks in a busy, dynamic environment. Make quick, informed decisions that impact patient care and unit operations; collaborate with site leadership and senior flow coordinators to manage bed flow and optimize admissions/discharges. Act as a coach, leader, and mentor for staff, fostering teamwork and professional growth (not responsible for discipline or investigations).
Lead daily interdisciplinary rounds and communicate effectively with the broader team, including public speaking responsibilities. Demonstrate strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills when managing challenging situations with patients, families, or team members. Maintain self-supervision while accessing support from the Unit Manager, senior flow coordinators, and other charge nurses as needed.

Description
As a Nurse Clinician (NC),
you will be responsible for coordinating an interprofessional team in the provision of quality patient (client, resident) care to meet operational priorities and requirements within a clinical setting. You will use an integrative leadership approach to assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating care needs, while assuming responsibility for staff assignments, patient flow, and clinical resources. You will play a key role in providing protected, high-quality, patient- and family-centred care while reflecting the organization¿s shared vision and values.

Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing. Minimum 5 years’ experience in acute inpatient neurological nursing. 1–2 years’ experience as a charge nurse in an acute neurological setting. Seizure monitoring unit experience. Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills. Experience with Connect Care (EPIC).
Preferred Qualifications
TORBSST and NIH certification. Experience in behavior management and neurosciences continuum of care.
