About Pacific Tutorials
At Pacific Tutorials, we believe strong Physics learning is about more than memorizing equations and substituting numbers. Students need to understand what is happening physically, why relationships exist, and how to apply concepts to unfamiliar problems independently.
Our tutoring is primarily one-on-one and personalized. We work with passion, preparation, and purpose, and we expect our tutors to bring the same commitment to every student they teach.
We are looking for a passionate Physics Tutor to support high-school students studying OSSD, IB, and AP Physics across Canada and the United States.
The Tutor We Are Looking For
We are not simply looking for someone who knows Physics. We are looking for someone who can teach it well.
At Pacific Tutorials, an excellent Physics tutor:
- Builds conceptual understanding before equation memorization.
- Helps students understand the physical reasoning behind mathematical relationships.
- Encourages students to explain why an approach works rather than simply calculate an answer.
- Identifies whether difficulties come from Physics concepts, mathematics, or underlying foundational gaps.
- Uses diagrams, graphs, real-world examples, and multiple approaches to make abstract concepts understandable.
- Develops analytical reasoning and problem-solving alongside calculation skills.
- Adapts explanations and difficulty levels to the individual student.
- Comes prepared and takes ownership of the quality of each session.
- Helps students become increasingly confident and independent problem-solvers.
We want students to move from “Which equation should I use?” to “I understand the situation and know how to approach it.”
What You’ll Do
- Provide personalized one-on-one online Physics tutoring to high-school students in Canada and the United States.
- Support students following OSSD, IB, and AP Physics curricula.
- Teach concepts across kinematics, dynamics, forces, energy, momentum, circular motion,
gravitation, electricity, magnetism, waves, optics, and other curriculum-specific topics within your areas of expertise.
- Connect mathematical skills with Physics concepts so students understand both the calculation and the underlying science.
- Guide students through calculations, diagrams, graphs, experimental data, and multi-step application-based problems.
- Develop students' strategies for approaching unfamiliar Physics problems independently.
- Identify learning gaps and adapt instruction to each student's needs and academic goals.
- Support coursework, assessments, test preparation, and examination readiness.
- Prepare appropriately for sessions and track relevant student progress.
- Maintain professional, reliable, and consistent communication.
What We’re Looking For We welcome applications from university students, graduates, educators, and professionals with a robust background in Physics or a related STEM discipline.
- Currently pursuing or having completed post-secondary studies in Physics, Engineering, Applied Physics, Mathematics, Astronomy, Computer Science, or another closely related STEM field.
- Strong command of high-school Physics within the courses you intend to tutor.
- Familiarity with OSSD, IB, and/or AP Physics; experience studying, teaching, or tutoring these curricula is an asset.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to explain the reasoning behind equations and physical relationships rather than relying solely on formula substitution.
- Ability to explain challenging concepts clearly and in multiple ways when necessary.
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
- Reliable, organized, prepared, and comfortable teaching online.
- Genuine interest in teaching and helping students grow.
Previous tutoring or teaching experience is an asset, but it is not mandatory. Strong subject knowledge, communication skills, preparation, and the ability to teach effectively matter more to us than years of experience. Why Join Pacific Tutorials?
- Teach students across Canada and the United States.
- Work in a personalized, one-on-one environment.
- Enjoy remote work with scheduling based on tutor and student availability.
- Work with students across different high-school Physics curricula.
- Develop your teaching and communication skills.
- Join an organization that values thoughtful instruction, academic quality, preparation, and meaningful student progress.
