The SickKids Enterprise Data & Analytics Office is looking for a Power BI Analyst to join the Decision Support team with the proven ability to transform data into meaningful reports and dashboards. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of report development using Microsoft Power BI, including setting up connections to data sources, integrating the sources together and producing stunningly visual reports which meet data consumers' needs by leveraging your outstanding communication skills.
A problem-solver with attention to detail and strong process improvement skills, the candidate will need to be comfortable multi-tasking as the role supports both current reporting initiatives and ongoing reporting needs crossing numerous data sources. As the face to the Decision Support team, the position requires assuming the role of a consultant with internal stakeholders to ensure a thorough understanding of the requirements, as well as an ability to translate the needs of the business to the technical capabilities of Power BI.
Here's What You'll Get To Do
- Develop, build, test, deploy and maintain enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards, reports, and scorecards to track clinical, operational, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Translate healthcare business requirements into scalable semantic data models, optimized queries, and robust calculations from multiple data sources using SQL and DAX.
- Perform data validation, cleaning, and testing to guarantee the accuracy and reliability of health information systems.
- Partner closely with clinical leaders, department managers,
operational and administrative stakeholders to gather reporting requirements
- Streamline dataflows, gateway configurations, and dataset refreshes to ensure seamless, high-performance reporting.
- Manage all health data assets in strict compliance with privacy legislation (such as PHIPA) and institutional data governance frameworks.
- Create and maintain thorough technical documentation for processes and provide end-user training and assistance to stakeholders across the organization to make data-driven decisions.
Essential
Here's What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology related field.
- 3+ years of experience in developing and implementing BI Solutions required, with special consideration to experience with Power BI.
- Highly advanced, and demonstrated skills in DAX, M, ETL (Power Query), SQL, performance optimization.
- Experience in both database concepts and design, particularly experience with Azure SQL Data Warehouse.
- Effective interpersonal skills in a cross-functional environment. Able to interact with all levels of technical ability and comfortable with translating business requirements into technical reporting solutions.
- Problem solving skills, out of box thinking, drive for innovation and ability to execute ideas.
- Strong project management, time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to create and derive meaning from data.
- A drive to ensure privacy and security standards are always adhered to.
- Inclination towards taking the organization from BI to AI landscape in long-term.

- Previous experience working within acute healthcare setting and databases, such as EPIC ADT and CIHI databases.
- Intermediate skills in R/Python.

- The ability to learn new tools, as needed.
