About the Role

This role exists to give our field technicians explicit direction and give our clients a single point of accountability once a project is sold. A year in, you'll be running project execution end to end: technicians know what's expected of them because you set it, materials are on-site before the crew shows up because you ordered them, and clients get straight answers about scope because you know the project better than anyone in the room.

What You'll Do

- Own project execution once a scope is handed off from sales, translating it into a work plan technicians can actually run.

- Issue and track work orders to employed and contracted technicians, and confirm the work is completed to spec before it's marked done.

- Visit client and job sites to verify installation and configuration work matches the approved scope.

- Confirm hardware, licensing, and materials are ordered and staged ahead of scheduled work, so crews are never waiting on parts.

- Know each project's scope well enough to answer client and technician questions directly, and to identify and flag out-of-scope requests before they become disputes.

- Hold technicians accountable for the quality and timeliness of their work, and escalate performance issues when needed.

- Support planning and preparation for VoIP deployments and data centre or infrastructure moves, including sequencing, dependencies, and rollback considerations.

- Understand data centre environments and the infrastructure around them, including fibre and CAT6/CAT6A cabling, well enough to plan for and verify that work on-site.

- Understand how a server is physically installed in a rack and how network switches are installed and configured, well enough to direct and verify that work.

- Track spend against each project's budget and flag overages before they happen.

- Be on-site and hands-on when a project needs it, including stepping in to help complete work directly to keep things moving, not just overseeing from the sidelines.

- Work after hours when the type of work requires it, such as off-hours cutovers, migrations, or weekend installs.

What We're Looking For

Required

- Working knowledge of IT infrastructure from the physical layer up: what a server is and how it actually works, structured cabling, networking fundamentals, and how a stack fits together end to end.

- Familiarity with VoIP systems (deployment, extensions, porting, and go-live sequencing) and with security camera / physical security systems, even without hands-on installation experience.

- Ability to read a project scope document and use it to make real-time decisions on-site, including recognizing what's out of scope.

- Comfortable working independently, with minimal day-to-day oversight, across multiple concurrent projects.

- Understanding of data centre infrastructure, including fibre and CAT6/CAT6A cabling standards, and of how servers and network switches are physically installed and configured.

- Ability to track project spend against budget and flag overages before they happen.

- Strong organizational skills and clear written and verbal communication, including with clients directly.

- Valid Ontario driver's licence and access to reliable transportation for regular travel to client sites.

- Availability for after-hours or on-site work when a project's timeline requires it, including occasionally staying on-site to help complete work directly.

Preferred

- CompTIA A+ and/or Network+.

- Exposure to project management fundamentals (formal PMP certification is not required).

- Prior experience in an MSP, IT services, or field services environment.
