Location: Powell River/qathet Regional District Salary Or Wage: $41.42 – $59.52 per hour with an additional hourly premium Start Date: As soon as possible Job Type: Part Time List of Requirements - Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Minimum two (2) years of recent experience providing treatment to individuals with mental health and/or substance use concerns.
- Experience with trauma-informed and harm reduction practices.
- Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle.
- Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check clearance.
Skills - Clinical assessment & direct care (mental health & substance use)
- Withdrawal management & stabilization support
- Care planning, prioritization & revision based on client status
- Medication administration & monitoring
- Observation of symptoms/behaviours; escalation & reporting
- Crisis intervention & de-escalation using trauma-informed practice
- Harm-reduction, relapse-prevention & recovery-focused education/counselling
- Case management & transitions of care (program community services)
- Interdisciplinary collaboration; participation in case conferences/treatment planning
- Documentation & health information management (charts, stats, reports)
- Safety & risk management (violence prevention, infection control, OH&S;)
- Quality improvement, team problem-solving & continuous learning
- Equipment checks & basic housekeeping to maintain a safe environment Working Condition and Physical Requirements - Required to occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Work in an setting that requires the ability to plan, organize, and adapt to shifting priorities. List of Duties - The RN/RPN provides direct nursing care and professional support to participants in the qathet Complex Care Housing program.
- The role contributes to participant stability and recovery by assessing health needs, delivering trauma-informed interventions, supporting harm reduction and relapse prevention, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, families, and community partners to improve housing and health outcomes.
