Reports to the Nurse Manager, or designate, the Registered Nurse - Perinatal plans and provides direct nursing care to obstetrical patients in the hospital in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies; national, provincial, regional and local obstetrical guidelines and the BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant Graduate of a recognized Perinatal Nursing specialty program. Current CPR Basic Rescuer.

Breastfeeding Course Certificate

Two (2) years recent related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education,



training and experience Skills And Abilities - Ability to apply the nursing process effectively in a well-organized manner to the care of assigned patients as required by the hospital and described in BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standared of Nursing Practice.

Applicants must have Perinatal Specialty Certification or equivalent education and experience. This position is on a combined maternal child unit, caring for both pediatric and perinatal patients as operationally needed. Willingness to train, orientate and work on the pediatric unit is required.A first in Canada: minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs) are here in BC!
