Your New Role

Reporting to the Controller, the Cost Accountant will play a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations through accurate product costing, inventory valuation, operational reporting, and financial analysis.

Working closely with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams, you will be responsible for analyzing standard costs, monitoring manufacturing variances, maintaining inventory integrity, and providing meaningful reporting that supports operational decision-making and profitability.

Key responsibilities include:

- Analyzing and maintaining standard costs across materials, labour, and overhead components.
- Monitoring manufacturing variances including material usage, labour efficiency, and overhead absorption.
- Ensuring accurate inventory valuation and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Supporting cycle counts, physical inventory processes, inventory reconciliations, and inventory controls.
- Monitoring WIP and finished goods inventory balances and investigating discrepancies.
- Preparing monthly manufacturing cost reports, KPI dashboards, and variance analyses.
- Delivering insights and recommendations to improve manufacturing efficiency, cost control, and profitability.
- Supporting month-end close activities related to costing, inventory, and manufacturing operations.
- Acting as a key finance resource for ERP processes related to costing, inventory management, production reporting, and master data integrity.




- Identifying process improvement opportunities and supporting ERP enhancements, upgrades, and best practices.
- Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and ad hoc financial analysis.

This position is primarily based on-site in Keene, Ontario, with occasional flexibility to work remotely when required.

What You'll Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- CPA designation (completed or in progress) preferred.
- 3-5 years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of:
- Standard costing
- Inventory accounting
- Manufacturing variance analysis
- Overhead absorption methodologies
- Work-in-process (WIP) accounting
- Inventory control processes
- Intercompany, cross-border, and multi-currency structures
- Strong ERP systems experience; Epicor experience is highly preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, lookups, and financial analysis.
- Experience with Power BI or similar business intelligence tools is considered an asset.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
