About the Prospect
ILAC International College is seeking an industry professional with expertise in computer systems, operating systems, or software engineering to teach our Computer Architecture & Operating Systems course. We are looking for someone who is passionate about technology and enjoys sharing their real-world knowledge with aspiring IT professionals.

The ideal candidate brings industry experience and can connect theoretical concepts to practical applications, helping students understand how modern computer systems function and preparing them for careers in software development, systems administration, and IT.

What You’ll Teach
This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of computer architecture and operating systems through a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands‑on activities. Students will explore how computer hardware and software interact while developing practical problem‑solving skills through simulations and applied assignments.

Topics include:

CPU design, registers, ALU, and processor architecture

Memory hierarchy, RAM, ROM, cache, and storage systems

Instruction Set Architecture (RISC and CISC)

Pipeline architecture and parallel processing

Motherboard architecture and system buses

Endianness and data representation

Physical and virtual memory management

Processes, threads, scheduling algorithms, and synchronization

Linux file systems and file management

Input/output devices and resource management

Students complete practical simulations and assignments throughout the course, reinforcing key concepts through real-world scenarios.

Responsibilities

Deliver engaging and interactive classroom instruction aligned with the approved curriculum.

Prepare lesson plans, presentations, demonstrations, and hands‑on learning activities.

Facilitate classroom discussions, simulations, and practical exercises.

Evaluate student performance through assignments, quizzes, and examinations.

Provide timely, constructive feedback and academic support.

Monitor attendance, participation, and student progress.





Maintain accurate academic records and submit grades by required deadlines.

Foster an inclusive and collaborative learning environment.

Work closely with the Academic team to ensure a high-quality student experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's degree considered an asset).

Minimum three years of industry experience in software engineering, systems engineering, IT infrastructure, cloud computing, or operating systems.

Strong understanding of computer architecture, processor design, memory systems, and operating system concepts.

Experience working with Linux environments and system administration.

Experience teaching, mentoring, or training adult learners is considered an asset.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Passion for sharing industry knowledge and mentoring future technology professionals.

Preferred Experience

Experience with systems programming or embedded systems.

Knowledge of virtualization, cloud infrastructure, or distributed systems.

Familiarity with computer hardware design and performance optimization.

Experience in creating project‑based or hands‑on learning activities.

Industry certifications (Linux, Cisco, CompTIA, Microsoft, AWS, etc.) are considered an asset.

Contract Instructor – Networks and Protocols
Location: Toronto, ON (In-Person)

Teaching Schedule: Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Compensation: $45.00 per hour

About the Course
Students develop practical networking skills through a combination of lectures and hands‑on labs. Topics include network architecture, IP addressing, routing, transport protocols, and network services, with an emphasis on configuring, analyzing, and troubleshooting networks using industry-standard tools.

Key Topics

OSI and TCP/IP networking models

IPv4 and IPv6 addressing

Subnetting, VLSM, and CIDR

Static and dynamic routing (RIP and OSPF)





TCP and UDP protocols

DHCP, DNS, and HTTP services

Network packet analysis and troubleshooting

Network configuration using Cisco Packet Tracer , Wireshark , and Linux command-line tools

Responsibilities

Deliver engaging classroom instruction and facilitate practical lab activities.

Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that promotes student success.

Demonstrate networking concepts through real-world examples and hands‑on exercises.

Assess student learning through assignments, practical activities, and examinations.

Provide timely feedback and academic support to students.

Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and course documentation.

Collaborate with the Academic Department to ensure high-quality program delivery.

Qualifications

Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.

Minimum 3 years of industry experience in networking, systems administration, network engineering, cybersecurity, or a related field.

Strong knowledge of:
TCP/IP networking

IPv4/IPv6 addressing and subnetting

Routing and switching

DHCP, DNS, HTTP, and related protocols

Linux networking commands

Experience using Cisco Packet Tracer and Wireshark .

Previous teaching, training, mentoring, or corporate facilitation experience is considered an asset.

Relevant industry certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP , CompTIA Network+ , or equivalent are highly desirable.
