The Rig Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of the drilling rig while providing leadership, supervision, and support to the rig crew. This position ensures all drilling activities are completed in accordance with company policies, industry regulations, and client expectations while promoting a strong safety culture and delivering operational excellence.
Supervision Received
Reports directly to the Field Superintendent.
Works in coordination with Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Management.
Supervision Exercised
Direct supervision of the Driller and all assigned rig personnel.
Provides leadership and direction to all personnel working on the lease as required.

Summary of Duties (Duties may include, but are not limited to the following)
Lead and oversee the daily operation of the drilling rig while maintaining a safe, productive, and efficient work environment.
Coordinate and supervise rig crews to ensure drilling operations are completed safely, efficiently,
and in accordance with company procedures.
Organize and oversee rig start-ups, rig moves, and shutdowns.
Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, legislative requirements, and client expectations.
Promote and enforce a strong safety culture through safety meetings, hazard identification, incident prevention, and corrective actions.
Ensure required procedures, policies, permits, and equipment documentation remain current and available on location.
Monitor rig performance, equipment utilization, preventative maintenance, and operational efficiency to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
Troubleshoot operational and equipment issues while coordinating required maintenance and servicing.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, third-party contractors, and regulatory representatives.
Coordinate crew orientation, training, mentorship, competency development, and ongoing performance management.
Delegate work based on employee competency while supporting employee growth and development.
Address employee performance concerns through coaching and progressive discipline when required.
Prepare, review, and submit required operational, maintenance, HSE, and administrative reports.
Communicate company initiatives, operational updates, and safety information to all rig personnel.
Ensure all required employee certifications and training remain current.
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
Thorough knowledge of drilling rig equipment, operations, and preventative maintenance practices.

Education and Experience
Must have valid H2S Alive ticket, Standard First Aid ticket, CSO, Confined Space Rescue ticket, Loader Training, Fall Protection ticket, Rig Rescue ticket, Boiler Ticket, and Well Control (Second Line) ticket;
Must have a valid driver’s license;
Previous supervisory experience within the oilfield drilling industry.
Extensive drilling rig experience with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
