Markham Family Medicine Teaching Unit is affiliated with the Markham Stouffville Hospital and the Department of Family and Community Medicine, University of Toronto. We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to join our team in order to provide research support to our expanding academic programme. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to several new research studies ranging from medical education initiatives, AI in family medicine, obesity, and pancreatic cancer.
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
· Collaborating with team members to assist with literature reviews, data collection, data analysis, and interpretation of study findings.
· Providing methodological assistance with quality improvement (QI) initiatives.
· Assisting with Research Ethics Board (REB) applications.
· Assisting with writing reports (technical / journal articles / abstracts / posters) for internal and external dissemination or publication.
· Carrying out data analysis using statistical software(s).
Training in human subject research and ethics will be provided if not already completed. We encourage the appointed candidate to develop new skills on the job.
Work Schedule
This position is available at 0.5 FTE (2.5 days per week) per week. Scheduling is flexible, and subject to change based on departmental needs. This role is a hybrid model, with one in office day per week.
Compensation
Range: $25-35 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
Qualifications and Skills
Required
· Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Computer Science, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Research Methodology, or Related Fields.
· An enthusiasm for primary care research.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
· Knowledge of statistical tests and experience with one of the major statistical software packages or other data management tools (e.g. STATA, SPSS, GraphPad Prism, NVivo).
Desirable
· Experience with leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) in data analysis, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses.
· Experience with healthcare administrative datasets.
· Experience with qualitative data analysis.
· Experience with grant writing.
