This positions the role as a hands-on “player-coach”—someone who can lead the existing sales team while personally developing major industrial accounts across Western Canada.
WESTERN CANADA SALES MANAGER
Legacy Group of Companies
Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta | Full-Time
Legacy Group of Companies is seeking an experienced, hands-on Western Canada Sales Manager to lead our continued growth across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and British Columbia.
Legacy is a rapidly growing, Canadian-owned group of companies supplying industrial coatings, automotive refinishing products, safety equipment, abrasives, clips and fasteners, shop supplies, cleaning chemicals and related products. We currently operate from Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg, with continued expansion planned throughout Western Canada.
We are not simply a product distributor. Our goal is to become a trusted service partner to our customers by providing responsive local service, technical expertise, on-site support and practical solutions that improve their operations.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a senior, hands-on sales leadership position. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing Legacy’s Western Canadian sales strategy, managing and supporting our regional salespeople, and personally helping advance major accounts and strategic opportunities.
We are looking for a leader who is equally comfortable coaching a salesperson, visiting a customer’s facility, developing a regional growth plan and helping close a complex industrial account.
This is not a desk-management position. It is a player-coach role for someone who enjoys building markets, developing people and winning business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, coach and hold accountable Legacy’s sales representatives across Western Canada
Establish clear sales targets, activity expectations and territory plans
Develop a coordinated sales strategy across Legacy’s different product divisions
Identify and pursue major industrial, automotive, commercial and institutional accounts
Personally participate in strategic customer meetings, product demonstrations, trials and negotiations
Build relationships with industrial service contractors, manufacturers, fabricators, coating shops, equipment repair facilities, automotive collision centres and other commercial users
Ensure the sales team understands and promotes Legacy’s complete product offering—not only coatings
Help customers consolidate purchasing across coatings, safety, abrasives, shop supplies, clips, fasteners and related products
Work closely with operations, procurement and technical personnel to ensure customer commitments can be successfully delivered
Maintain accurate opportunities, activities and forecasts within the company CRM
Monitor sales, gross margin, customer retention and territory performance
Protect pricing discipline while pursuing profitable, sustainable growth
Recruit, onboard and develop additional salespeople as the company expands
Provide regular reporting to senior management on performance, opportunities, risks and regional market conditions
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
During the first year, the Western Canada Sales Manager will be expected to:
Introduce consistent sales leadership and accountability across all locations
Develop measurable territory and account plans for each salesperson
Improve the quality and accuracy of the company’s sales pipeline and forecasts
Increase cross-selling throughout Legacy’s complete product portfolio
Convert qualified trials and opportunities into recurring commercial accounts
Expand Legacy’s presence in key industrial centres across Western Canada
Build a scalable sales structure capable of supporting the company’s continued growth
QUALIFICATIONS
Proven success in B2B sales leadership, regional sales management or business development
Experience managing and coaching salespeople across multiple locations or territories
Strong record of personally developing and closing significant commercial or industrial accounts
Ability to establish accountability without losing the trust and engagement of the sales team
Commercial understanding of pricing, gross margin, forecasting and account profitability
Comfortable working in an entrepreneurial, rapidly evolving organization
Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills
Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout Western Canada
Valid driver’s licence
Experience in one or more of the following sectors would be considered a strong asset:
Industrial or protective coatings
Automotive refinishing or collision repair
Industrial distribution
Safety equipment and PPE
Abrasives, shop supplies, clips or fasteners
Oil and gas, mining, manufacturing or infrastructure
- Equipment manufacturing, repair or refurbishment
