Responsibilities
Clinical & Therapeutic Services: Provide individual, family, and group counseling using evidence-based and culturally grounded approaches; address concerns such as intergenerational trauma, grief and loss, substance use, anxiety, depression, and crisis response; deliver services in alignment with Non‑Insured Health Benefits Program mental health counseling guidelines; develop personalized wellness plans that reflect client strengths, cultural identity, and community context.
Cultural Safety & Indigenous Healing: Incorporate traditional healing practices (e.g., talking circles, Elders guidance, land‑based healing) alongside clinical therapy; ensure services are culturally protected, respectful, and responsive to the impacts of colonization, including residential schools and systemic inequities; collaborate with Elders, Knowledge Keepers,
and community members to support culturally appropriate care.
Community Engagement: Build trusting relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, and leadership; support community‑based wellness initiatives, outreach programs, and prevention strategies; facilitate workshops on mental wellness, resilience, and trauma‑informed care.
Case Management & Coordination: Maintain accurate and confidential client records in accordance with professional and program standards and the Med Access Electronic Medical Record; coordinate care with other service providers, including primary care, social services, and community supports.
