At MacKay, precision matters. Every successful project starts with accurate layout, reliable data, and a team that gets it right the first time. From highways and bridges to utilities, mine infrastructure, and heavy civil construction, we build projects that shape Western Canada.

We're looking for a Surveyor who takes pride in accuracy, enjoys working outdoors, and understands the critical role surveying plays in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality construction projects. If you enjoy combining technology, problem-solving, and field work, we'd like to hear from you.

Verify survey measurements and calculations to maintain quality and project accuracy

Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field crews to support daily construction activities

Prepare field notes, survey reports, maps, sketches, and supporting documentation

Maintain, calibrate, and care for survey equipment to ensure accuracy

Assist with quantity surveys and progress measurements

Complete daily timesheets and labour, equipment, and material reporting

Travel between project sites as required

Support additional surveying and construction duties as assigned

Who You Are
You're detail-oriented, technically capable, and enjoy working in the field. You understand that accurate survey information is the foundation of every successful project and take pride in producing dependable, high-quality work.

You Have

Minimum two (2) years of surveying experience, preferably within heavy civil construction

Strong understanding of construction methods and surveying principles

Experience operating GPS survey equipment (Topcon experience is considered an asset)

Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings and construction plans

Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills

Excellent organizational and time management abilities

Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Willingness to travel and work on multiple project sites throughout Western Canada

Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Flexibility to work overtime, rotational schedules, and weekends when project demands require

Legally entitled to work in Canada

Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract

What's In It for You
While this position is based from our Cranbrook, BC office, your workplace is where the projects are. You'll spend the majority of your time supporting active construction sites across our operations, working alongside experienced professionals on challenging and rewarding projects.

You’ll enjoy:

Competitive compensation

Opportunities for professional development and career growth

Exposure to a wide variety of heavy civil and mining projects

Modern survey technology and equipment

A collaborative team setting focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement

The opportunity to build projects that leave a lasting impact across Western Canada

At MacKay, accuracy drives progress. If you're ready to bring precision, technology, and teamwork together to help build exceptional projects, we'd like to hear from you.
