Overview
This dynamic position allows for direct patient care in an infusion clinic focused as a center of excellence for specialty medications. The Infusion Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients with chronic conditions including, neurological disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatologic diseases and other lifelong illnesses. This role will focus on patient assessments, administering intravenous and injectable medications and monitoring treatment outcomes related to disease progression, symptoms, and medication management. Acting as a primary point of contact for their assigned healthcare providers (physicians, nurses, and physician assistants), the Infusion Nurse ensures patients convenient and comfortable access to their prescribed therapies while serving as a key resource for patients, supporting disease management and treatment education.
As the clinic’s lead operator, the Infusion Nurse is responsible for ensuring all requirements are met from both a quality compliance standpoint and a quality patient care perspective. This includes managing patient care processes, maintaining adherence to clinical standards, and driving operational excellence to support safe and effective treatment delivery.

Job Duties
Complete pre-treatment assessments to ensure patient eligibility for treatment
Insertion of peripheral intravenous or establishing access via central line, following best practices and standards of provincial college
Provide medical support to patients, including but not limited to education on specific diseases, therapies, and disease management
Support and monitor the administration of IV, SC and IM medications in the clinic environment
Handling and reconstitution of biologic or oncology medications within Health Canada and manufacturer guidelines
Monitor patients before, during and following treatment
Complete and maintain training for specific therapies by maintaining knowledge as per Health Canada’s Product Monograph, company policies & procedures
Maintain a secure, clean clinic setting by adhering to established procedures, rules, and regulations and uphold quality, safety and infection control standards at all times
Maintain adequate medical and office supplies through regular inventory checks and timely ordering
Document and maintain patient records to ensure treatment history is adequately captured
Submit necessary documentation to appropriate parties in a timely manner as outlined by Sentrex policies
Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and corporate information, sharing details only with authorized personnel in accordance with privacy and confidentiality standards and policies
Liaise with physicians’ offices, pharmacies, services providers, and other parties to provide comprehensive and coordinated service to patients and healthcare providers
Participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities, clinic audits and training sessions
Administer and adhere to patient care protocols, including clinical monitoring, data collection, on-going patient follow-up, compliance, therapy disruption/discontinuation monitoring, adverse event reporting and liaison with primary healthcare providers
Follow and abide by all provincial College of Nurses guidelines while providing patient care
Report adverse events in accordance with Health Canada, manufacturer and company guidelines
Additional duties as assigned by Sentrex leadership
Qualifications
Minimum 2-4 years of infusion nursing experience
Registered Nurse, with Qualified Liability Insurance
Critical Care, Emergency, Oncology, Neurology, Rheumatology, Gastro, Hepatology and/or pediatric experience an asset
Maintain yearly membership with provincial College of Registered Nurses, in good standing
CPR and First-Aid certification required
ACLS, CVAA, CON(C), PALS certificate as asset
Expert IV insertion skills
Able to confidently deliver patient education including but not limited to patient self-injection education and medication teaching
Ability to confidently administer medications via IV, IM and/or SC
Passionate at supporting patient care and removing barriers to care
Ability to work autonomously and proficiently, as part of a larger remote team
Comfort executing medical directives and managing infusion related reactions
Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry an asset
Effective interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to meet deadlines and be flexible with patient and HCP requirements
Excellent problem-solving skills: ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
