Your Role in Supporting Our Members
As an Accountant, Financial Accounting , you will perform full cycle accounting activities across Vancity and its subsidiaries to support accurate and timely financial reporting. You will play a key role in preparing financial statements, completing reconciliations, and supporting external audits while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure financial integrity. We are seeking a detail‑oriented finance professional with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting practices within a complex financial services workplace.
Full-time, Permanent role based at our Vancity head office and will report directly to the Manager, Financial Accounting . While this position provides a hybrid work arrangement, you will be expected to be on‑site for events and business demands.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Perform full cycle accounting for assigned subsidiaries, business lines, and intercompany and consolidation elimination transactions
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting working papers
Complete general ledger reconciliations and detailed financial analysis
Account for investments, derivatives, borrowings, accruals, and prepaid expenses
Validate financial data within investment and derivative systems and review related contracts
Support the preparation of annual financial statements and related disclosures
Prepare accounting and tax information required for external audits and respond to auditor inquiries
Collaborate with project teams and IT to enhance and implement finance systems
What You’ll Bring to the Team
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, or CMA) or in progress
3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within financial services
Strong knowledge of full cycle accounting and financial reporting processes
Experience with general ledger reconciliations and financial analysis
Familiarity with investments, derivatives, or complex financial instruments is an asset
Solid understanding of accounting systems, policies, and procedures
Strong analytical, research, and problem‑solving skills
Extra Skills That Set You Apart
Experience supporting external audits in a regulated environment
Exposure to financial system implementations or upgrades
Knowledge of Vancity programs, systems, or the credit union sector

What You’ll Earn
This role offers a salary range of $69,700 to $90,200 per annum . The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
