Details:
Job Title: Digital Product Designer – Expert (Sr. Product Designer)
Location: Toronto, ON
Duration: 12-Month Assignment
Description:
The designer will shape the organization US Bank secure web experience, creating capabilities that give clients the confidence and autonomy to independently manage their online banking needs.
Responsibilities:
- Lead multiple teams across business areas with design oversight
- Set design direction aligned to platform guidelines and craft standards
- Provide content design guidance where necessary
- Contribute to product planning (roadmaps, quarterly planning) against business OKRs
- Test design hypotheses through iterative MVPs and user testing when necessary to balance business and customer needs
- Champion Agile and test-and-learn approaches to build products effectively
- Represent design leadership to cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders
- Demonstrate design's business value as a trusted partner
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration (demos, workshops, stakeholder sessions) across business, product, tech, risk, legal, etc.
- Enable team success through clear vision, delegation, and obstacle removal

- Deep design process expertise with end-to-end execution knowledge
- US product landscape knowledge with institutional memory across digital initiatives

- Natural leadership qualities: self-starter with strong time management and presentation skills
- Mobile-first design experience and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects

- Mastered the design system with deep expertise across interaction, visual, content, and research
- Collaborates seamlessly with squad and cross-functional partners daily, bridging Toronto and US Bank teams
- Self-motivated and self-sufficient, thriving as the sole designer supporting organization US Bank while managing distributed responsibilities
- Proactively identifies and champions improvements within team processes and design practice
Qualifications:
Must Haves:
- Hybrid Design Expertise (interaction, visual, content, research) - Essential for a one-person team covering all design disciplines for a complex banking product
- Self-Sufficiency & Independence - Critical when operating solo from Toronto supporting US Bank; must own decisions and problem-solve autonomously
- Cross-Functional Collaboration - Vital for bridging distributed teams (Toronto-based, US Bank stakeholders, product, tech, risk, legal) without design backup
- Proficiency in Figma, Confluence, and JIRA - Required to manage design workflows, documentation, and agile processes independently and efficiently
- Adaptability & Strategic Thinking - Necessary to quickly integrate into workflows, identify improvements, and balance business OKRs with client empowerment in a fast-moving environment
Nice to Haves:
- Bilingual Proficiency (English & Spanish) - enabling direct engagement with Spanish-speaking clients and cross-border stakeholder communication
- User Research & Testing Expertise - Enhances ability to validate design hypotheses independently and build client confidence in banking solutions
- Accessibility & Compliance Knowledge - Important for secure banking platforms; demonstrates commitment to inclusive design and regulatory requirements
