The Planning & Scheduling Manager is responsible for leading the planning, scheduling, and work management functions to support protected, reliable, and cost-effective operations. This role oversees the development and execution of maintenance and operational schedules, ensures effective resource utilization, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to maximize equipment reliability, productivity, and operational performance.The Planning & Scheduling Manager collaborates closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Contractor Management teams to ensure work is planned, prioritized, and executed efficiently while meeting safety, environmental, and business objectivesKey ResponsibilitiesPlanning & Work ManagementLead the maintenance planning and scheduling team in the development of short-term, weekly, and long-term work plansEstablish and maintain effective work management processes and standardsEnsure all maintenance and shutdown activities are properly scoped, planned, and scheduledMonitor work order backlog and prioritize activities based on risk, reliability, and operational requirementsCoordinate labour, materials, tools, equipment, and contractor resources to support scheduled workScheduling & ExecutionDevelop integrated maintenance and operational schedules that align with production targets and business prioritiesFacilitate weekly and daily scheduling meetings with key stakeholdersMonitor schedule compliance and identify opportunities to improve execution performanceOptimize resource allocation to maximize workforce productivity and equipment availabilitySupport turnaround, outage,
and shutdown planning activityReliability & Continuous ImprovementPartner with Reliability and Engineering teams to improve asset performance and maintenance effectivenessAnalyze maintenance performance metrics and identify improvement opportunitiesImplement best practices in planning, scheduling, and asset managementDrive process improvements that enhance safety, reliability, and operational efficiencySupport root cause investigations and corrective action implementationLeadership & Team DevelopmentProvide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to planning and scheduling personnelFoster a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvementsEstablish performance objectives and development plans for team membersPromote knowledge sharing and adherence to company procedures and standReporting & Performance ManagementMonitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) includingSchedule complianceWork order backlogLabour productivityMaintenance costsPlanned versus reactive workPrepare reports and recommendations for site leadershipSupport annual budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning activitiesQualificationsEducation with Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, Business, Trades Technology, or a related fieldProfessional designation (P.Eng., PMP, or related certification) is considered an asset8+ years of experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, operations, reliability, or asset management10+ years of leadership or supervisory experienceExperience in industrial operations, mining, manufacturing, energy, chemical processing, or related industriesExperience leading turnaround, outage, or shutdown planning activitiesTechnical SkillsStrong understanding of maintenance and reliability principlesExperience with CMMS and ERP systems (SAP, IBM Maximo, or similar)Proficiency with scheduling and planning toolsStrong analytical, budgeting, and reporting capabilitiesKnowledge of Alberta occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations #J-18808-Ljbffr
