School Cafeteria Cook & Service Team Member

Monday to Friday | 6:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. | No evenings or weekends

We are an established North Shore food-service company hiring multiple team members for our West Vancouver school cafeteria operations beginning September 8, 2026.

This is a full-time, school-year position with guaranteed 40-hour weeks during scheduled school operating weeks. It is ideal for someone who wants steady daytime work, enjoys working around students, and is comfortable in a busy, hands-on food-service environment.

Compensation

$21–$23 per hour, based on relevant food-service experience and cooking ability.

Higher compensation may be available for experienced cooks with strong, proven kitchen skills.

What You'll Do

- Prepare ingredients and menu items
- Cook and serve fresh meals
- Serve students and school staff
- Operate a cash register and point-of-sale system
- Keep kitchen, storage, and service areas clean, stocked, and organized
- Follow food-safety, sanitation, and allergy procedures
- Support coworkers during busy service periods
- Help wherever needed to keep daily operations running smoothly

Some positions will involve substantially more cooking than others, so restaurant, catering, batch-cooking, cafeteria, or other professional kitchen experience is a major asset. Cashier and POS experience are not required and can be trained.

- Legally entitled to work in Canada




- Available to commit to the full 2026–2027 school year through June 2027

Previous food-service experience is preferred, but we are willing to train someone with the right attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

Employees generally work at one primary West Vancouver school location, although occasional reassignment to another school may be required.

A vehicle is not required, but applicants must have a reliable way to arrive in West Vancouver by 6:30 a.m. Some locations can be difficult to access by public transit.

This position follows the school calendar. There is no scheduled work during:

- Winter break
- Spring break
- Summer break
- Professional-development days
- Other school closures

These periods are unpaid, except for eligible paid statutory holidays. Optional catering and special-event shifts may occasionally be available but are not required.
