The City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill the Assessment Coordinator role. Under the direction of the Manager of Taxation & Assessment, the Assessment Coordinator manages all functions relating to the input, processing, and balancing of assessment information received from the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA).
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the main contact with SAMA to facilitate data exchanges; coordinate building permits and handle tax information
Create, review, and generate preliminary and supplemental assessment notices; manage annual supplemental billing and customer inquiries.
Input, process and reconcile assessment data, tax adjustments, exemptions, parking stalls and Board of Revision decisions with the Tax and Assessment system.
Serve as the main liaison with the Board of Revision Secretary ensuring accurate documentation for appeals and keeping property tax accounts updated.
Assists with collections duties (e.g. payment plans, ownership changes, mortgage updates)
and reconcile ISC legal information.
Adhere to City safety policies.
Qualifications
Accounting Diploma
Two years accounting experience preferably in municipal assessment and taxation
Equivalent combination of education and experience
Working knowledge of computer software packages and ability to, with minimal supervision, understand and operate specialized application software. (i.e. Database, Windows, spreadsheets and word processing, Excel, Microsoft Office, Crystal Reports, Microsoft Word, etc.)
Solid organizational skills and ability to work independently.
Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with the public, outside contacts and other employees
Proven ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
