Adecco is currently hiring a full-time Senior Accountant for our client, in Calgary, AB. This position is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with strong expertise in financial reporting, annual audits, Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS), and financial process improvement.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting the operational excellence of the Finance department by ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of financial information. This opportunity is ideal for a collaborative and detail-oriented professional who enjoys providing technical accounting expertise and partnering with stakeholders across an organization.

Responsibilities:
Annual PSAS Audit Support
Prepare year-end working papers, reconciliations, and audit schedules in accordance with Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS)
Assist in preparing financial statement note disclosures and supporting documentation
Respond to audit requests and coordinate information required by external auditors
Research and document accounting positions under PSAS, including the preparation of technical accounting memoranda as required
Support the resolution of audit findings and follow up on outstanding audit requests
Assist in preparing supporting documentation for complex accounting transactions
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations
Analyze general ledger accounts and investigate variances
Prepare technical accounting position papers
Support accurate and timely financial reporting activities
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls,
and reporting requirements
Business Process Documentation
Document finance business processes resulting from system implementations and operational improvements
Partner with Finance and operational departments to validate and refine documented processes
Assist with knowledge transfer and documentation to support ongoing operations
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls
Stakeholder Collaboration
Provide technical accounting support to Finance team members and operational stakeholders
Collaborate with departments across the College to support financial reporting and compliance requirements
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen financial processes and data integrity
Qualifications and Skills:
CPA designation (CPA, CA, CPA, CMA, or CPA, CGA) in good standing
Minimum 6 years of progressive accounting experience, including financial and regulatory reporting and annual audits
Experience preparing financial statements in accordance with Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS)
Robust knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls
Demonstrated experience supporting external audits and preparing audit documentation
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Experience working with integrated enterprise financial management systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, variances, and financial risks
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
High level of professionalism, confidentiality, discretion, and sound judgment
Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
