We are seeking an experienced Survey Lead with extensive tunneling, underground construction, and major civil infrastructure experience. The ideal candidate brings deep technical capability, proven leadership, and a track record of delivering high - precision survey operations on complex, multi - disciplinary projects.
This role will lead all survey planning, coordination, execution, and quality assurance for the Stanley Park project, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and seamless integration with engineering, construction, and digital workflows.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of all survey requirements for construction activities.
Organize and manage the survey department, assigning personnel, resources, and priorities.
Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to survey teams, fostering capability and long-term retention.
Manage project-wide survey QA systems, compliance documentation, and digital records.
Tunneling & Underground Expertise
Oversee high-precision engineering-grade construction activities including VMT guidance, drill & blast alignment, and underground control networks.
Implement and maintain tunnel guidance systems, ensuring accuracy across complex interfaces.
Conduct settlement, convergence, and instrumentation monitoring in urban environments.
Deliver ultra-high breakthrough accuracy through advanced control network design and execution.
Survey Execution & Methodologies
Select, maintain, and calibrate survey equipment; ensure proper use on site.
Develop clear, comprehensive Survey Methodologies to guide project execution.
Conduct traverse, network, monitoring,
topographical, and construction surveys.
Provide layout at various stages of construction and oversight as-built documentation.
Manage as-built data, digital records, and stamped submittals.
Digital Engineering & Advanced Workflows
Implement 3D laser scanning, automated feature extraction, AI-assisted processing, and BIM/GIS integration.
Process survey data, perform calculations, and resolve field or data-related issues.
Produce advanced temporary and permanent works models and digital deliverables.
Support digital QA, engineering interfaces, and project-wide data accuracy.
Project Coordination & Communication
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineering, construction, and project management.
Provide progress updates, field data, and technical insights to stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Support budgeting, procurement, and resource planning for survey operations.
Requirements
Education & Experience
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 15 years of surveying experience, including 5+ years in heavy civil construction.
Extensive experience with major infrastructure projects in urban environments.
Proven leadership managing large survey teams on complex projects.
Technical Expertise
Proficiency with GPS, total stations, and tunnel guidance systems.
Robust knowledge of survey practices, standards, and engineering design methods.
Advanced capability with complex survey tools, data processing, and software including:

Trimble Business Center
MicroSurvey Star*Net
Experience with 3D scanning, automated feature extraction, AI-assisted processing, BIM/GIS integration.
Certifications & Assets
Valid driver’s license.
BCLS designation (or eligibility) is considered a strong asset.
Certified Professional Engineering Surveyor (CPES), Mine Surveyor CoC, or equivalent credentials are strong assets.
Familiarity with Job Site Health and Safety regulations.
Bilingualism is an asset; proficiency in English required.

In accordance with applicable pay transparency legislation, EBC Inc. has included the expected salary range for this role, which is$ 90,000-$140,000. Compensation within the range is determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, localization, and internal equity. Base salary is one component of EBC’s comprehensive total rewards offering, which may include performance-based incentives, extended health and wellness benefits, retirement savings programs, and career development opportunities.
