Senior Field Technician – Source Emissions
Location: Calgary, AB | Employment Type: Permanent – Full Time | Reporting To: Mason Sakshaug

This role combines hands‑on fieldwork with leadership and client‑facing responsibilities. You will oversee field testing programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor junior technicians while maintaining the highest standards of safety and data integrity.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and perform on-site stack testing and source emissions monitoring in accordance with federal and regional regulatory methods (e.g., EPA Reference Methods, ECCC).

Plan and manage field deployments, including crew logistics, equipment preparation, and safety procedures.

Analyze collected data and ensure QA/QC protocols are strictly followed throughout testing and reporting processes.

Serve as a technical liaison with clients, regulators, and internal teams to communicate project scope, progress, and findings.

Train, mentor, and supervise junior field technicians and new team members.

Troubleshoot and maintain analytical and sampling equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

Support project scoping, scheduling, and budgeting in collaboration with project managers and senior leadership.

Keep current with evolving environmental regulations and industry best practices, proactively adapting procedures and technologies.

Prepare high‑quality technical reports, including regulatory documentation, emissions data summaries, and field observations.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise





Post‑secondary education in Environmental Technology, Engineering, Chemistry or a related field is an asset.

Minimum of 5‑years’ experience in the Air Quality Testing field.

Practical expertise in OSTC and EPA Source testing methodologies.

Strong computer and analytical technical hands‑on skills.

Aptitude for practical problem‑solving.

Field/site experience is a definite asset.

Legally eligible to work in the United States.

Valid driver’s license.

Candidates Should Also Possess

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong people and team skills, and a high level of motivation.

Ability to work in a fast‑paced team environment with little supervision.

Exceptional organizational, coordination, and consultation skills.

Willingness to travel, and to work outdoors, including long hours, evenings, and weekends.

Experience collecting samples at heights and in all weather conditions.
