Position Summary
The Health and Safety Advisor provides comprehensive safety oversight and program coordination across diverse client sites, combining hands-on safety management with strategic program development. This role involves conducting workplace inspections, managing regulatory compliance, leading incident investigations, and delivering safety training programs. The position requires direct client interaction, contractor coordination, and emergency response capabilities while ensuring adherence to Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements and industry-specific safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
On-Site Safety Program Coordination

Coordinate and manage comprehensive on-site safety programs across diverse industry sectors

Develop and implement safety policies and procedures tailored to client-specific requirements

Ensure regulatory compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and industry standards

Monitor safety performance indicators and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Compliance Monitoring & Inspection Activities

Conduct systematic workplace compliance inspections and detailed safety assessments

Prepare comprehensive inspection reports with actionable recommendations and follow-up protocols

Execute workplace safety audits and regulatory compliance verifications

Coordinate with regulatory bodies and support compliance documentation requirements

Incident Response & Investigation

Execute workplace safety management protocols and emergency response procedures

Lead minor accident investigations using structured root cause analysis methodologies





Develop comprehensive corrective action plans and implement preventive measures

Document incident findings and coordinate with stakeholders for resolution

Training & Development Activities

Lead contractor site orientations and comprehensive safety training programs

Verify contractor documentation, certifications, and safety compliance records

Develop training materials and safety communication resources

Support knowledge transfer and continuous learning initiatives

Emergency Coverage & Support Services

Provide emergency safety coverage and rapid response capabilities across client sites

Perform comprehensive health and safety audits and assessment activities

Support crisis management and emergency evacuation procedures

Coordinate with emergency services and regulatory authorities as required

Qualifications
Required:

3-5 years of experience in safety, construction, and project site safety management

Robust communication, leadership, and organizational capabilities

Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Valid Driver's License

Ability to work effectively in the GTA

Preferred:





Rail industry safety experience (beneficial but not mandatory)

NCSO or CRSP professional certifications

Construction industry background with multi-trade coordination experience

Training development and adult education experience

Working Conditions

Field-based work in GTA, Ontario at client onsite

Monday to Friday

Usage of a personal vehicle to drive to the client's worksites

Physical demands include site inspections, equipment assessments, and facility mobility.

Collaboration with construction teams, contractors, and diverse client stakeholders
